My car was stabbed!

I've got a large (diameter of your thumb) and deep chip on my driver side panel. It literally looks like someone took a screw driver and stabbed my car...or drilled it...or shot it... Point is the chip is several millimeters deep. There is no dent around the damage. I'm out of town so I haven't had time to take pics or get quotes to get it fixed but thought I'd post here in the mean time. I'm a DIYer so I was hoping for some advice. I've read countless posts on scratch/chip repair but I'm wondering if there is some product I can use to fill in the metal on the door before applying touch up paint. Any ideas?

If its deep and large like you say, your going to need a filler product. Touch up wont fill before your 60th birthday. Its probably going to need a pros touch........
