mother's clay bar disintegrating

I was using mother's clay bar and was almost out of the detail spray. so i grabbed my meguiars quik detail spray and used that in replacement. well, i resumed the clay barring process and then noticed the clay bar residue in the areas i laid on the surface.

i had to clean up the clay bar with the meguairs step 1 paint cleaner.

so is the meguiars quik detail spray a 'no-no' with clay bar? seemed like the mequiars broke down that clay bar and made it semi-sticky/oily.

I have used both the Mothers and Megs clay bars and detailer sprays interchangeably with no issues. I am not sure why you are having issues. Clay bar residue usually means you hit a dry spot or not enough lube.

I have had clay bars go slimy but it was when using a soap as a lube.

meguiars clay bar is used with meguiars quick detail spray, so i am guessing you piece of clay went bad or was used up...it was probably filled up with contaminants and thats why it came apart...
