Minor headlight keep up

I know how to restore headlights when they get really yellow/foggy looking, but this isn't the problem. I'm noticing my 2G TL headlights are getting a slightly white build up on them and I want to keep them looking extremely clear, but I don't want to do something as harsh as wetsanding.

What should I use to try and remove that small build up?

I tried using the meguir's light restorer, it looked good for a week then it started coming back so I just bought a new set of headlights. Good luck I hear the turtle headlight restorer is better but I am sure the same thing will happen.

Resurface the lights and then install 3M Venturshield to avoid oxidation in the future.

BTW thats not a small build up, its just the UV protective clear coat chipping.

Thanks, I'll try to take a picture of it today or tomorrow and get your opinion on whether I should resurface or not.

We have clear coat on the headlights? Isn't it more the UV layer thats part of the plastic?.

My Olds Alero was really fogged over .. wet sanded them with 2000/2500 then polished out 2 years ago and all I did after that is when I put a sealant on the car spring/fall I just did 2 layers of NuFinish on them.

use the 3m headlight restoration system. if you are a novice like me and dont have all these other pro tools or polish sandpaper lying around it works wonders. restored 15 year old headlights with much gusto for me

Honestly guys, when you see the pics of the headlights...they look great. I'm just very picky about how they look up close.

From far away they look fine:

But this is the up close that I'm talking about. I didn't think a full-on restoration would be necessary, maybe just some rubbing compound on a buffer?

I have this same thing going on.
I feel the 3m wetsand is too harsh, but dont want to waste my money on something thats not going to work.

Is the meguiars plastX good?
They have a kit with a drill adapter...

The Plastx is good for polishing them, but I dont think it's rough enough to take that build up off

Thats what i was thinking. Its the build up of that oxidation scaling thats killing me, not the yellowing.

hard to tell from pics. might be clear coat failure at which point you need to take all of it off and polish it and seal it and keep it up for rest of the time unless you can get them clear coated again. if its not clear coat failure then you can polish them and seal them
