Mess that will not come off

While my TSX was parked in the parking garage here at school, something white dripped from one of the upper decks onto my hood. Since it is winter, I figured it was some sort of salt mixture since it is all over the roads. However, I simply cannot remove this crap from my hood.

I've tried washing with soap, tar removers, pure P21S, and some grease removers, but the damn stuff will not budge.

Any suggestions for some high strength solvents that will remove this crap, or perhaps some alternative solutions, before my paint is ruined?

Thanks in advance.

Is it on the surface of the paint? If so, what about claying?

It sounds as if the lime from the concrete leached out. The best thing to use that I have been told is to use a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar. Obviously make sure the area is clean before you try this, then clean it again afterwards to neutralize the acids in the vinegar solution. And then just apply your fav. wax at the end once everything is removed.

Hope this helps.

It seems to be on the surface of the paint, as I can scrape it off with a fingernail. I tried clay earlier today, and it didn't do much of anything.

I didn't consider the lime from the concrete, but that sounds like the best explanation thus far. I'll will give the water/white vinegar mixture a try and report back.

Thanks for the suggestions, as this one really caught me by surprise. I spend a lot of the time detailing my car and purposely paid extra to park in the garage, so this has me pretty concerned.

The vinegar worked well, completely removed the mess without much effort. Unfortunately, the lime left etchings in the paint. They don't look so bad, so hopefully I can take them out with a good polish and my PC7424.
