Leather stain guard suggestions
Leather stain guard suggestions
I have a taupe leather interior. The kids seem to love to kick the back of the front seats (they are in car seats so its hard not to). What do you suggest spraying on the seatbacks to keep them cleaner and resist marking?
Leather Protection
Dependant upon the finish applied (See Leather Upholstery and Trim Surface Identification - http://togwt1980.blogspot.com/) to the leather surface a protection product provides a Scotchgard™ type protection specifically formulated for leather
( See also ultra violet (UV) radiation protection)
I – Aniline Pigmented Leather
Leather Master™ - Protection Cream provides excellent protection against every kind of soiling, water, oil, alcohol-based stains and perspiration marks.
This enhances the durability of your leather, so your leather will maintain the original gloss as well as a nice soft touch through the years. Its water and oil repellent effect is particularly suitable for leather used in cabriolets. Heavily used seats and steering wheels quickly become glossy as the soil “polishes” the leather. Protection Cream brings back the matte sheen to the leather.
It should be applied to new leather upholstery before use, particularly on sensitive or light colours, and after any cleaning process. Acts as a protective barrier which assists in the removal of every day light soiling, helps to resist dye transfer and (suntan) oil stains and makes its removal more successful, it reduces surface scratching and enhances colours on aniline leathers
II - Urethane Covered Upholstery
Unlike cloth or leather, the surface of polyurethane generates static, which attracts dust. As a result, it can quickly become grimy; although vinyl and urethane covered upholstery is the easiest to clean. Do not use regular household soap and water as they may permanently remove the sheen
The urethane coating needs to be regularly cleaned to prevent the accumulation of dirt and body oils from damaging the finish. A protector will form a barrier between the surface coating and any dirt / grit which along with body friction will abrade the surface. Protection with 1z einszett Vinyl Rubber Care & Potectant "Tiefenpfleger” provides a temperature-resistant seal and a an anti-static satin matte finish Dust-resistant and retards the fading effects of UV rays to keep exterior ‘rubber’ and vinyl looking like new and makes it easier to clean and helps prevent damage
UVR protection is a sacrificial / renewable component; this is due to the UV protection layer being degraded by exposure to the elements (sun, sand, road or sea salt, and etc) so it is imperative that you renew it and needs to be re-applied on a regular basis (dependent upon location climatic condition)
Application - sprays onto a clean micro fibre towel, agitates it well and then allows it to remain in place for 10-15 minutes. Finally using a clean micro fibre towel buff it to ensure it permeates
Alternate products- Optimum Protectant Plus has a balance of cleaners, penetrating oils, and UV inhibitors that restores the original colour of these surfaces, protects against and hides any scratches, and protects against sun damage
III - Alcantara® Leather
Leather Master™ Nubuck Eco Protector (N-Nubuck / Alcantara®) Nubuck /Suede Protectant
Is a water based product for highly sensitive leathers, it took several years to perfect, and was difficult to formulate due to the potential damage caused by water. It may be used on furniture, clothing, shoes, and accessories.
Eco-Protector provides an oil, water and alcohol barrier on Nubuck and suede. This unique formula is a step forward from the previous Leather Master Aerosol protectant. In fact, it has several advantages over all aerosol protectants - non-flammable and very safe for consumer use, environmentally safe, solvent free formula

My daughter had the same problem with kids kicking and I get a lot of cars to detail with the same problem.
As your probably aware some of the marks are near impossible to get off and I have seen cases where people have rubbed the finish off trying.
What she did was find a couple of dish towels close to the color of the seats and tuck 1 end in the pocket on the back of the seat and let it hang down .. if you have no pocket then get the wife / mom etc to sew a loop on the top of the towel to go over the head rest and an elastic strap on the bottom of the towel to go over the bottom of the seat back.
It might look funky today but will save a lot of stress and frustration later.
I know of nothing thats a wipe on that will do it.
