Leather Care | Options & Trials
I'd like to get some feedback on leather care for my new TL. I know that back in the day I used this stuff called Connolly Hide Food which I got from the Rolls Royce dealership. (For my 94 Integra GSR)... ha. It worked awesome and much better than the over the counter stuff. I did use Lexol for a while but it didn't seem to have the same effect. What does everyone here recommend?
Thanks,

Wolfgang Leather Conditioner. I was using Lexol before switching over to Pinnacle Leather Cleaner/Conditioner, but Wolfgang beats them all. My passenger seat was had a tough feeling compare to my own driver seat, but several day after I applied the Wolfgang Conditioner, I was surprised @ how soft it had become. My fiance also noticed it
when she sat down. The smell is similar to the Pinnacle Leather Cleaner/Conditioner, which is pretty much a leather-esque scent.
I would recommend Zaino's Leather Conditioner. Simply awesome stuff. No greasy feel or look. UV protection. Best part is that it renews that fresh leather smell. Almost like bringing home a brand new baseball glove!
I've used the Megs stuff before, but wasn't thrilled with it and was going to switch to Lexol, but after reading some of the above posts... I DUNNO.
Will have to see what others have to say and come up with a plan!

Covered Leather (Urethane, Vinyl or MB-Tex):
Since late ‘80s early ‘90s 85% of vehicle manufacturers have used covered leather for their interior upholstery. It’s made from natural hides, but uniquely treated with a light pigmented urethane resin coating or a vinyl covering to make it more viable for automotive seating. It retains the softness of natural top-grain leather but resists fading in direct sunlight, leathers worst enemy
Spills wipe off with a moistened cloth, the urethane resin or the vinyl covering require oils to stop it from drying out (just like a paint system's clear coat) the leather also requires replacement of natural oils. Clean, condition and apply a UVR protection as in items 1, 2 & 3 on page 2.
Identifying characteristics- uniform colour and grain patterns; will not scratch easily; water drops will not change colour.
Recommended products-
•Urethane Coated Leather- use Groit's Leather Care or Zanio Z-10 Leather in a bottle
•Vinyl or MB-Tex Covered leather- use Groit's Leather Rejuvenator or Leatherique Prestine Clean
Note: Lexus LS430 and SC430 have uncoated leather. All Lexus made before the 2001-2004 revamp have coated leather. Mercedes-Benz have a Premium Leather Package (top grain hide, use Leatherique or Connolly Hide Care) coated leather and MB-Tex (Vinyl)
Note: Connolly Leather Hide Care, this product may not be compatible with covered leather and could damage the urethane.
