Just bought a '07 TL...its never been waxed?!?
Hi, first time posting, but then, today is the first day I've owned an Acura. A 2007 TL to be exact. I had reservations about the finish when I was looking at it, but it wasn't too bad. I talked the guy down in price to the KBB 'good' price range and bought. Asked him after the fact if the car had ever been waxed and he said it hadn't...which is kind of unbelievable. Regardless, I want to get it waxed now, but am afraid to take it to Car Pool and just let them go to town. Any guidance/suggestions? I'm hoping waxing will remove some of the markings I see in the finish...
Thanks,
D

find a detailer...a good one...that also does paint correction properly. once it's been done caring for th car will be much easier.
OR
you can do it yourself if you have all weekend to do it and products to do it.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've never worked with a clay bar before, just hand wash, then Meguire's or Zymol on and off in the shade. I'll try to get a good recommendation on a detailer in Richmond and check them out.

I gotta disagree with the above steps, wash it well, then clay it before you use any type of wax or polish. Then proceed to polish or buff out any imperfections in the clear coat then followed by a good wax.
You want to clean all the crap and debris off the paint before you seal it in with a wax

OP search autogeek or detailers domain for more in depth procedures.
basics are as macoyle has pointed out. if you are unable to polish out the imperfections yourself (ie with a machine like a DA polisher), seek a detailer that will do this for you and then maintain your new car appropriately (proper wash techniques and detailing, unless you would rather just pay someone).

Stick around Acurazine's Wash & Wax sub-forum for great tips and tricks for properly detailing your car. The first time will be the hardest due to lack of maintenance and probable paint imperfections. I agree with TLtrigirl though, definitely find a reputable detailer near you for that first detail.

first thing you need to understand is that waxing will not do anything except add a coat of protection on paint that is in poor condition....
go to autogeek.net and click on the detailing how to tab and start reading up on what you need to have done, then see if its worth it for you to invest and do it yourself, or pay someone to do it for you....either way, done correctly, and you in to it for around for 300-500 bucks....300 if you do it yourself
