I LOVE car salesman... LOL
Hey guys,
So, get this....I went with my fiancee tonight to look at a Buick Enclave with her mom. Anyway, the car salesman started the whole speel about the extras that we could purchase - scotch guard on the carpet floor mats, and the paint protection, which consisted of this GREAT Teflon product that would out last ANY wax or sealant one could buy. Anyway, once I started pressing it a little bit, he told me that when is paint rep comes in, he literally puts a coat of this great Teflon paint protection down, then literally lights that part of the hood on fire. Has ANYONE ever heard of this. I seriously started laughing. He then proceeded to tell me that any other car waxes sealants would melt - DUH!
Anyway, I guess they will say whatever to make a sale. I just thought it was crazy - what kind of a Teflon product could possibly offers years of protection, especially after being lit on fire.... LOL...
Well, hope you all get a good laugh out of this one!
Jeff

I knew as soon as I saw the thread title that this was likely to be a good one. I was right. ![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
The 'light on fire' gag is an old one and doesn't prove diddly squat. However it seems to work because people eat it right up.

That's almost as good as the saturn dealers that take a door panel, throw it on the floor and start jumping on it and kicking it

Dupont (who makes teflon) confirms that there is no way possible for it's Teflon product to be applied to a car. The melting temp of Teflon is around 600-800 degrees if my memory is correct therefore your car would have to be placed in an oven and baked for hours in order for the teflon to adhere to your car. Well unless you get your car back completely torched I have to think their Teflon claim is full of ****! Its a shame that people get scammed everyday by bogus advertising
