How to Paint an old car?

I've got a 96 accord that runs fine but has horrible paint (faded in spots; really faded in spots, etc).

I'd be interested in painting it to make it look semi decent.
Any tips on how to do a diy paint job?

Given the age of the car, I'm not looking to spend much money on it.

need to answer the basic questions first...

are you planning to paint the whole car at once? or will you do certain panels only? do u have a place to paint it? paint booth, garage? do you have an air compressor that can handle shooting paint? have you painted anything before? what is your budget and time?
