How good are the automatic manual car wash?

Anyone know if the manual 3 minute car wash, with a spray hose and brush are any good. Does the soft brush scratch cars paint. I'm thinking about using it during winter months. Should i use the brush or just high pressure wash any ideas?

I wouldn't use one, if I had to I'd bring my own mitt and soap and just use their water.

Absolutely do not use the brushes, unless its just to clean the windows off. Who knows what asshole whom just went mudding tried cleaning off his rig. I use the high pressure soap & rinse when my car is really dirty, then I wash it in the driveway with a warm bucket of water. Get some flexible water proof gloves and a set of microfibers, you're gonna need them for the cold ass winter.

Also, drive-thru car washes are no better. You'll get swirls/scratches from them as well.

I used the DIY spray and scrub bays for my old car about once a week for a couple of winters and the paint got scratched to shit, I can only assume it was from the shitty brushes since I know it wasn't from my mit I used for summer washes. I always sprayed down the brush before I used it, but apprently that do do me much good. Now I would NEVER bring my CL to one of those things.
I got an unlimited wash card for the next 6 months from one of those full-service, $18/wash kinda places since I can't wash it myself in the winter. I go there once-twice a week and hopefully my paint will fair better than my last car. But who knows how clean those towels are they use to dry the car?? Guess I'll find out. :fingerscrossed:

Don't even touch the brush. At best, use it to clean your wheels.

In Michigan, it's impossible to wash my car at home. So I have no choice but to take it to the DIY car washes. I bring my own towels.

My DIY car wash has heated water so you never get cold doing the washing.

I bring my own bucket, mitts, and towels though.

Using the "foaming brush" = teh bad.
