How can I get rid of this? (Video Included)

Hey guys, I used Turtle Wax on my TL to get rid of scratches but I seem to have made it worse. Is there anything I could do to get rid of this?

Lets back up a couple steps . Turtle wax what? They make a lot of products.

I'll wager a guess it was a tin of the rubbing compound. What did you use to apply it? And exactly which product? What did you use to remove it?

Yikes!!!!!!!
Im betting that green tin can of compound as well. Removed with a used beach towel?
Cant guarantee it will all come out, but I would say a yellow pad and diminishing abrasive compound are probably in order......obviously followed up with a polish and orange/white pad, maybe even a finish polish as well.

Very idiotic move on my part. I have used it on my first car (maxima) with no problems so I guess I expected the same on my TL.

I used a soft blue towel from Auto Zone. It looks similar to this.

I searched for diminishing abrasive compound but there seem to be a lot to choose from. Is there a specific place where I could buy it online and hopefully not really expensive?

ha..ha..! My cousin did the same thing. That rubbing compound is like sandpaper in a can. What you are looking at is major compounding haze. What you need to do to correct it is get a polishing compound and a light finishing polish. Where are you located Shawn? maybe someone close to you can mail you some small samples to use by hand?

that may work but you may still need to follow that with a milder polish? or maybe not?

LOL, I did the SAME thing to my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am SC/T back in 02' 3 days after I bought it. I discovered a small scratch, so I decided to head over to Autozone to find something to remove the scratch. Well, the retard there sold me that heavy duty turtle wax compound. Like a moron, and not knowing any better (brand new to detailing), I decided to use it all over my hood. Well, my result was the SAME as yours. I was so pissed, and afraid that it wouldn't come out. Anyway, I took it to a local detailer, who used a compound and a polish, and it looked good as new. Hopefully you're as lucky as I was Let us know how it goes

In that case, instead of buying stuff that may or may not work, I will just take it to a detailer then lol. Atleast they would know exactly what to do instead of me taking guesses on what may work. I will let you guys know how it works out.

Ouch! I hope it isn't as bad as it looks.

Can someone explain why that turtle wax compound cause such a rough scuff marks even though it is intended to remove scratches (or is it just shitty product?)?

The abrasives in it are a way to course.
