hmmm...wth is on my car?

So 3 weeks ago i noticed that my car had a bunch of little white speckles after i washed my car, which i tend to do every saturday, and even saw it on my windows. I didnt really think much of it and i thought i just didnt do a good enough job or something. so i washed it again and it was still freaking there and i have no idea what it is but it looks like paint that has been carried by the wind or something. i figured it wasnt anything to do with the original paint of the car since its all over my windows too.

i can't upload my pics from my phone til later tonight so yea its pretty worthless until i do.

has anyone experienced this and are any suggestions on how i can get rid of this?

sorry for the double posting but i found a usb cord so i can upload the pics now

This is the hood

This is the trunk

This is the back window

This is the side door

This is the again the hood more towards the front

My neighbor has been doing some work on his house recently and could it be that he unintentionally had airbrushed paint carried by wind to my car? but that wouldnt explain that its on all parts of the car.....

Looks like paint speckles. You're gonna need to clay the whole car to get all that off. That's horrible. Did someone in your neighborhood paint their house or something? Maybe the wind carried it to your car like you said.

Claying the car will take care of it ... that sux man. I'd be PIZZED! Sounds like a good excuse to detail out the exterior ... clay, polish & wax will fix her right up I got overspray on my black F-350 at work ... same deal as your car only YELLOW

You can buy a claybar kit at your local auto supply store for under $20. All it is is a wad of playdoh. Just make sure you keep the surface lubricated or you might scratch the finish. you can lubricate with car wash soap or quick detail spray. Whatever you do, don't drop the clay. If you drop it, throw it away and get another one.

I don't suggest waiting to get that paint off. you should clay it as soon as possible to make sure that paint doesn't set in to the existing paint.

You might want to swing by autopia.org and look for a good claybar and a tutorial on claybaring if you've never done that before.

Make sure you approach your neighbor about this and make him aware of the issue.

thanks for the input guys...i think im just going to take it to a shop to get it detailed and clayed soon...i dont really trust myself to do it on my own since i tend to try to be too detailed in the things i do and end up doing it too much and messing it up. ive been reading these forums for a while since before i got my TL and dont really post much but it never ceases to amaze me how informative this forum is. Thanks alot

yea, go to get 2 packages of the clay from "mother", and spend about 7 hours or more to clay the whole car and do the re-sealant and finishing... then you are all good to go...

And your paint will be smooth as glass after you're done ... guaranteed there was a ton of "debris" in the paint before the overspray got on there ... you'll be amazed how much junk the clay pulls out of your paint and glass if you decide to DIY. It's really easy to do and if you follow Trew's advice about keeping the surface lubed, you can't really mess it up ... it's actually kind of fun, in a monotonous sort of way

Just please be sure that if you do take it in to get it detailed, make sure the detailer you're taking it to is a real detailer and not some cheap hack. Otherwise your car may come back worse than when it went in.

The full detail will probably run you $350 and that may be on the low end. Suck it up and do it yourself. For the $350 you could get a PC and all the works to do it yourself from Patrick @ ExcelDetail

It certainly appears to be some sort of overspray from the neighbor (hood) at least. Anything going on at work which may have resulted in this?
LX, unless you just dont have time, take it upon your self. Its virtually idiot proof. Also look in the FAQ's about claying. There is A LOT of infor here on Azine about claying. You could probably do the whole thing yourself for under $30.00, and ya never know, you may just get bit by the detailing bug!!

U need 2 kits to clay a car? Or would the kit in the video with 2 clay bars be enough?

The recent Meguiars kit I bought came with two bars in the box. Your ride will need two bars most likely. And, if you drop it throw it away or it will cause more problems than you have already.

I'm not quite sure where you guys are thinking that you need two whole clay bars to do an entire vehicle but it's definitely not always the case. Generally if the contamination is average, you can do multiple cars with the same clay bar.

One clay bar kit OTC should be more than enough to take care of one car. However, if you feel the need to purchase more than one kit, no one's going to stop you, hehe.

normally i'd agree, but there is an assload of over-spray on that car...that claybar is gonna look like a christmas ornament (sp) after just doing the hood
