Help with waterspotting...

I followed the mantra here -

wash
clay
polish
sealant

I used NXT 2.0 for the sealant, and the first time it rained I had waterspotting on the hood. It didn't come off the next time I washed...

What could I have done wrong? Is there any way to fix it short of stripping off the sealant and going again?

Car is an ABP 2004 TL, I am in Michigan.

Its not the sealant .. its the contaminants in the air doing it .. the contaminats land on the paint .. the rain dissolves them then evaporates leaving the minerals.

You didn't do anything wrong.

Try using a light polish for removal, then reseal. Your now aware of issues in your "hood" that present themselves, so protect, protect, protect!
3 layers will benefit you in the long run. You may also experiment with different sealants and see if that doesnt help alleviate spotting down the road.

The hood literally...

Any info on sealants that stand up better than others to contaminants in the air? Does putting on a wax over the sealant help at all?

Also Excel -

I would be interested in a refurbished UDM if they become available again... back of the line I would guess.

Grimace, I stand by the UPP. Its even more durable now then before. A little costly initially, but theres enough there for 3-4 years of quarterly application.
Refurb UDM's dont appear to vbe available at the moment....
