over the period of 3 weeks and between 9 - 15 cars later. Recent temp. in so cal definitely didn't help with the situation.

Ive never burned BP before, and like most, I opt for the 5.5's for general polishing, 4" for more scrutinizing scratches and isolated tough swirls or abrasions.

Now obviously you didn't read everything, try looking at post #31 before you say anything.

First of all, don't buy orbital polisher, it won't do a thing....
Now back to topic, I use EVERYTHING from Meguiar's and love their stuff. Their new G110v2 that came out this year is awesome and more powerful than 7424XP from Porter Cable.
Also I like that meguiars have 6.5 and 7 inch pads, that's if you work on doors, trunk, roof, and hood you will cover that area faster then working with smaller pad.
Then Meguiars has 4 inch pads, that's for tight spots. Some of the products to throw out there are M105 is most aggressive, and finishes off nicely with M205. You can also use M95 or Ultimate Compound to remove moderate scratches and swirls.
By looking at your paint, you have what's called "spider web" which is easily removed and you can use D151 reconditioning cream (its pink color) very nice product as it contains wax at the same time and no need to wax after it. Its all in one product.
Meguiars NXT wax is really nice too, and then you can use M20 or M21 sealant that protects the wax from washing off and lasts very long.
I also recommend this forum if you have a lot more questions, and you can search and there are a lot of answers and helpful topics.

Megs online can help a lot and do you have anything against it? If the OP likes megs products, he will go there and read more info about them, rather then trusting some other products that he never used or heard.

One above statement you made really has me confused Quote "Meguiars NXT wax is really nice too, and then you can use M20 or M21 sealant that protects the wax from washing off " unquote M21 is bsically the same family as the NXT but with less cleaners and longer life ..... you don't use M21 over NXT to keep it from washing off. You would use NXT or M21 ... also M21 is very layerable where the NXT line has more cleaners in it and doesn't layer as well.

I think what he is trying to say ia megs heavily promotes only thier products .. and yes I do and have used a lot of them but there is also other good products out there. The Optimum line is very good for the beginner and it also doesn't dry as fast and turn to concrete and has no dusting. The Megs 105/205 have very short working time .. tend to splatter and dust a lot. The only time I use the M105 is if I have a bad area I have to spot correct .. outside of that I don't use it because of the above mentioned issues. You can also use the Optimum line in the sun where the Megs line turns to concrete in 5 seconds.

^^^^ funny seeing Mike Phillips promoting Optimum products .. when I first talked with him he was working for Meguiars and was the one that sent me the first NXT in Canada and the 6.5 " pads I refered to above.

Yes, it is used to apply/remove wax. DA polisher is lot stronger than orbital polisher.

in my mind, anything bigger then a 5.5" pad is too large, smaller pads correct quicker then larger pads...
nxt is a sealant, not a WAX...it also has cleaners in it as well...

Thats why I get down op people who say "Get a rotary" and "Some compound will fix that" without being very specific.

The Ford was a detailer at a dealership with a rotary , the 4Runner was a guy who took someones advice that "a compound will take that out " And he used TW Rubbing Compound.

In most cases your better off to buy the PC and supplies in "non" kit form .. then you get to select exactly what you need.
How about this ;
1) PC here --> http://www.coastaltool.com/a/port/7424xp_5polisher.htm free shipping and you get the backing plate for 5.5" pads
(Would this number of pads be good for one car? Or a few more, ie 4 each?)
2) 2 orange pads
3) 3 white pads
4) Optimum Polish 32
5) Optimum Compound II 8oz
6) Optimum Hyper Compound 8oz <---- This product appears to be for a high speed rotary, is that correct? Will I need this with the PCDA?
7) Duragloss 105 TPP 16oz <---- Is this a wax or a sealant? Not really sure after reading it's description. If it's not a sealant, do you recommend one?

Optimum Poli-Seal, yes or no?
Duragloss Polish Bonding Agent (PBA) #601 According to autogeek.com it says to use this before the 105 TPP to make it last longer, would you say to use?
Sorry about all the questions, I just like all details before purchasing something. It's kind of that feel good about what I'm picking.

Also what about this product, Optimum Finish Polish? Yes or no? I never found a need
Optimum Poli-Seal, yes or no? Doesn't matter ... I will use it a s AIO but if your polishing you really don't need it

Re other questions .. Unless your car is badly oxidized etc the pads I suggested are more than I normally use on any given detail.
I use the Hyper on a PC all the time and have for 2 years.
#105 is a sealant and one of the better ones ...

I think the OPT Poli-Seal is one of if not the best AIO (All In One) out there.
Jess, the Ford you did, any idea if the paint is similar to the black paint on my 06 Expedition? If so, mind sending me a PM with any info/advice you can give me on what works best with it or any pointers. I havent tackled the expy yet because its so damn big!

now my details are as simple as xmt 360 with a white pad, and 4star upp with a black pad...

Thanks for the feedback on the stuff that I have, so once I have a DA buffer really the only good thing I have is the Clay bar and the QD right?
On the 4Runner forum the guys over there are recommending the Flex 3401, I found a video on Youtube comparing the 2 and I have to agree that it looks like it works quicker and does better at correcting stuff. Flex XC 3401 VRG vs. Porter Cable 7424 HD
If I went the route of the flex from what I'm seeing the 6.5" pads are what it uses correct, where as the 7424XP I would use 5.5" pads.
I've been doing a lot of research the last few days, and I do say that I'm just sure confused about what compound, polish, sealant, and wax to use. OMG too much to choose from!!

How much of the8oz optimum care care pack (compound II, Polish II, finish polish) do you think it will take for 1 car? Basically do you think it's enough to do both vehicles? Obviously the DP TPP will have enough for more than several applications.
