Help with fine scratch

While filling up the RL with gas my lovely wife of 27 yrs did not seat the pump nozzle completely into the fuel receptacle and when she let go of it the pump handle fell and put a nice 5" scratch on the side below the fill door. It appears to not have gone through the paint. I briefly tried some Meguiars Scratch X by hand last night but scratch did not disappear.

Please, someone give me an idea what to do. When I drag my fingernail across it I can feel the scratch - maybe just the clearcoat was damaged. I do not have a PC buffer but I do have a WaxMaster purchased from Meguiars. I also have some Mequairs polish and fine scratch remover yet to try.

If you can feel the scratch.. I thought that meant it's past the CC.
