Gross Headlights
or should i say headlight, cause one is brand new.......the other one though, is 5 years old and has this foggy old look to it. I tried buffing it, ive tried lime away, what else can i do to make the old one look like new? ANYONE HAVE ANY SECRETS????? THANKS
Hey man, I got your solution. My car was the same way, my passenger side was amber and my driver was crystal clear (had to buy new due to small accident). The unevenness of the headlights was driving me crazy and I even thought about buying a new one from the dealer, $200.00 each. Anyways I figured I might as well try something radical before I shelled out some money. So I bought some 3M 2000 grit sand paper and sanded until my arm was numb. I worked it from left to right making sure that I kept the strokes parallel to the bumper. While sanding the lens use a bucket of diluted car wash liquid (for lubrication). The sandpaper will take out the junk that is stuck on the surface, if you pass your hand over it you will feel bumps (that is were water left some dirt deposits). Sand until you can no longer feel any bumps, to do this wet your hand and the headlight with the car wash solution and check to see were the sanding is needed. While doing this I found out that they looked great while wet, but when they dried they looked a bit scratched. To fix this I used tooth paste, Yes!! Toothpaste. The reason is because it contains micro polishers that clean your teeth, if you get toothpaste and feel it with your fingers you can feel them in it. So you put the toothpaste in the headlight and let it dry, then buff with a cloth. You can add a little bit of the car wash solution to get lubrication. I did it for about 30 minutes, repeating after the toothpaste got too wet, the dryer the better. If you do this you will get rid of the amber and the small scratches from the 2000 grit sandpaper. Let me know how it works out for you, it did wonders for me.
