Angry Gotta Love Parents

So my Dad tried to surprise me and wash my car for me, before I woke up.... and messed up my paint even more! He used the crappiest towels we have, and Washed the CAR with MY TIRE SPONGE....my old raggedy tire sponge.... Is there any hope left? Just waxed it and didnt help at all.

You need to polish it, or have it polished by someone. I'd head on over to Autopia and get reading!

Lol my dad this once for me and I woke up and caught him in the act. I politely proceeded to tell him that as much as I like suprises, the car is off limits regardless of who pays for it.

That sucks man. As said before, it's time to polish. I'm glad I don't have that problem...my dad is a great detailer.

Sorry to hear that. I'm a dad myself. My son owns a black 2001 Mustang GT and we wash and detail together at times. Great father son activity. It's something we both love doing. I'm sure with the right products and work you can get those scratches out. Good luck.

Why dont you invite dad over upon your order arrival and show him some detailing insight? Then thank him for his efforts..........

not all of us old farts are clueless about detailing. I've been doing it since the day I first owned a car. You should take your Dad out and show him how to really clean the car...then he can surprise you and make you happy!

I never said you are...just my dad is. Me and him dont really click, and trust me, ive tried showing him proper techniques of washing, but he just doesnt care enough about his car to take the time to properly do it. And I ALways wash his and my moms cars, but he decided to do his and mine himself, without using the techinques i showed him. Oh well hopefully i can get rid of those eye sores.

I really don't know what to say

Can't be mad at him for trying to do something nice for you, but at the same time, he made it look pretty bad.

Like you said, not all people take pride in washing their cars. Judging from the fairly new heavily swirled/scratched cars it seems most people would just rush the job and use dirty cloths on their car. Its like they don't even care.

Sorry to hear.... i never let anyone touch or wash my car.. not even my dad and hes own an autobody shop! i think its the feeling of satisfaction of when i do it myself and make it look like new... are the marks on the car scratches??? i used a lil bit of that NUFINISH scratch remover on my car and its was able to take out most of the minor scratches that were on the clear coat surface. not sure if anyone would agree with me on this but it works.... you could also use a lil bit of rubbing compound to get the marks out. but thats just my

That sucks. My dad once washed my car for me. When he was drying it I woke up and went outside to find him using the chamois that were on the floor of the garage and had oil stains all over it and were full of dirt and crap. I nearly had a heartattack. There is some blemishes where he did it but nothing like yours. :-(

At that time the car was only a month or so old.

You've got the perfect excuse to persuade daddy to get you a new paint job!

my dad did that a few times for me. The last time he did, I guess he used some polisher or something that strips the wax....because now on one of my old cars, the paint comes off if you wipe it with a towel lol.

Definitely needs a paint job, but my money is going to be for my new TSX only
