Unhappy Got a scratch/gouge on the wheel, need help

Hi,
I got a scratch on my aluminum wheel from scraping a curb, is there anything I can do to take it out? I am afraid to hit it with sand paper or something really abrasive. Do the wheels have some sort of coating on top of the aluminum?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

I have a small 1/2" scratch too, but was told a wheel repair shop can fix it for around $100+, so it would pay to wait till something worse happened.

The wheels have a clear coat paint finish. As for repair methods, it depends greatly on the scratch -- through the clear coat only, scratches lightly into the aluminum, deeply into the aluminum, or a more major scrape (rather than a scratch).

Personally, I wouldn't go after it with sandpaper without an expert opinion or knowledge. A wheel shop estimate could be helpful since they'll probably tell you what they have to do to fix it.
