Good Product (for Paint Chip repairs)

Alright everybody,

I was directed to this product, langka, and I haven't had a chance to use it until last night.

Here is my story and experience with langka:

During our ice storm, on Dec 31 2000, my CL-S was *hit* (tapped, swipped, whatever you want to call it) by another vehicle while in a parking lot. I did not see who did it, nor was there any note or anything left by the person responsible. I got home to my garage and that's when I really noticed what happened, after I got all the ice off my car. 2 big 'ol scratched and paint chips on the drivers' side front bumper, right above the driving light and below the headlight. I was pissed

But there was nothing that I could do, I didn't know when it happened, I had about a 2 hour window that it could have happened in, I knew where it happened, but there was nothing I could do

So on Jan 2 2001, I head to David McDavid Acura and have them look at the damage, not much, but they would have to sand and repaint the entire front bumper. I don't have the money that they want for the job, and I don't want to go through insurance for such a minor thing (I mean c'mon paint chips, they happen all the time). So I ask about fixing it myself, they say that touch-up paint would be the only thing. I say alright and pick up a bottle. I get home and remember all the stories and my personal experiences with touch-up paint, and all the rough surfaces and blobing, and the paint not matching, etc. So I look up some stuff online and find the langka product.

Yesterday, I washed my car and decided to try my touch-up paint and langka. This stuff works good. It was easy to use and the directions were easy to follow. My paint chips are gone, it doesn't completely blend with the bumper, but it does look good. The thing with my chips it that there were scratches also, those are still kinda there, but I am going to do another layer of touch-up paint and langka today after work and try to get those to disappear.

For anybody looking for a product to use with their touch-up paint, I would recommend the langka product. Atleast try it out. it was only like $20. And they shipped the same day of the order, and they followed up with emails to see how the product performed. Very good customer service.

I can't think of anything else to add, so ask questions if you have any!

So Langka is used in tandem with the touch up paint?

For $20 + shipping, a 2 ounce bottle?
more costly than Zaino

Zaino has a touch up paint product? wasn't aware of that one.

And yes, it is to be used in conjunction with OEM touch up paint.

HOw does it work? I am interested. There is a big clip near the grille on my CL-S. The clip was quite bad and the whole layer of paint were chipped off. I could see the steel inside. Would this langka product be able to take away that chip?

Did you decide to NOT do the dab the dealer provided touch-up paint, clear coat, and wet sand treatment?

Perhaps you can clarify the process YOU took

Looked at the site. what is the difference between using this product, verses just rubbing the paint blob down with some 1500 grit compound from 3M?

I used it and it looks really good. No blobs,
I first applied factory touch up paint using a tooth pick, (left a big bloob) don't worry this is where langka kick in.
Waited for about 2 hours so it would dry.
got my langka and vualla after 20 seconds no blob and Almost perfect fix.
you can only get a perfect fix if you want to repaint it.

BTW, my chip was down to the primier, very deep chip, and lanka served me well.

Highly reccommned this product, esp since our paints suck.

I had a look, and it looks easy. On the other hand, I get what your saying... I keep some 2000 thru 1200 Wet Sandpaper around and used that with an eraser on my Maxima when some jerk would wack the door. I would wait a day (after applying my touch-up paint), then use my mini blob flattener (most of the time just the 2000 grit paper, with tons of water, on an pink pearl eraser).

The paint would now have about an inch wide area with a luster removed, but totally flat. I would follow with a good polish, and then wax. I had a scratch from a door that was 10 inches long on the door that I slowly filled in (with a factory paint stick), and then did a wet-sand, and polish. It was one of the best looking doors on the car.

The problem:

1. If anybody had seen the work in progress, they would have dropped dead on the ground from fear

2. It takes a gentle touch and spare time.

3. Need wet sandpaper, medium polish, super-fine polish.

4. The car I'm talking about wasn't clear coated, so add that in.

So, if this Lanka stuff will do the "equivalent" of all of my steps above, they have a nice product.

I think I will try some, when I get my first chip on my car!

Heh, I was swiped in the parking lot at work. I had this type of thing on my mind and this is just what I was looking for.

Thanks for the review Avengerjr. Did you use Langka to fix the chip that was on your front bumper? I saw that you tried to touch it up with something from before. What did you use the first time?

Also, where did you get the touch up paint from? And was it a good match on the Satin Silver?

I had just used touch up paint before, and then sanded it down a bit. I looks alright now, but I wish you couldn't tell it was even there.

After I washed and waxed my car, I didn't have time to do it again, but soon enough.

I got the touch up paint at David McDavid Acura - don't remember how much it was. It matches pretty good, just be sure to shake it up well!
