First try with udm!!...lol terrible pics inside
I finally had time to try out the udm today. and let me start off with saying that i suck at taking pictures(lighting and such).
I used: optimum compound w/orange pad
optimum polish w/white pad
optimum poliseal w/red pad.
also used a medium grade clay bar.(lol see pics)
never knew how nasty my paint was until i clayed it.
a special thanks goes out to Pat at excel for getting me all of my supplies and helping along the way (lol my pointless phonecall)
after 7 hours, here it is
clay side 1
side 2
i am very satisfied with my first try. i def have A LOT more to learn tho car looks great. also i found a new use for all of the armor all i have sitting around(lol i hate that stuff) but i used it for my fender liners
i didnt get pics of my pads when i was done but the were filthy, is this normal?
sorry for the long post, any comments/advise would be great.

That clay bothers me...mine didn't look that nasty and I picked up a lot of stuff off my paint! Did you wash before claying? Regardless, don't you love how smooth it feels now!??!
Your swirl removal looks good....good to see someone new try it out...makes me more anxious!

The results look great! The exterior pictures were the only ones that had noise in them but the others looked pretty good.
As far as the clay goes, it's probably made by Auto Magic since they hold the patent laws to clay and what not. I highly dislike them since they are freely exercising their monopoly across the market and the government has done nothing about it.

If you had a great idea and put in the time and money to develop and patent it, I suspect that you would want to exercise your monopoly.

That is what a patent is for, to allow you to have a monopoly on your invention, unless you choose to license it to someone, on your terms. Having that monopoly is what gives someone the incentive to spend what can be tremendous amounts of money to develop an idea.

There patent is very vague which sucks.........It basically says if it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck, it must be a duck. However, someone else made clay that not only looked like a duck, and walked like a duck, but it barked like a dog! It was far superior to what CM created.......

Was Autopia selling them for that much? Or was there a link to somewhere outside that had them. Usually external links (non detailing sites) offer the 7424/7336 for about $120.00, but it doesnt include a backing plate and comes with a white pad perm..mounted to a rigid backing plate (instead of the white velcro/reusable polishing pad. Between backing plate and pad, theres at least $25.00, brings your real total to about $145.00/$150.00) plus S/H.
