Fine Art of Car Washing

Fine Art of Car Washing

I thought all the detailing nuts in here would appreciate this video. This guy makes my 8 hour full detail look like child's play

I hope this hasn't been posted before, either.

I thought if you wash in direct sunlight, you could burn or etch soap rings into the cars finish.

This video is turning up all over the place. We have talked about it on a detailing site I am a member of. He doesnt do anything special to the cars. I think its odd he washes the cars outside in the sun, and cleans the wheels after he already washed and dried the car. I hope he had a grit guard in his bucket,......cause he was only using one bucket washing that car. No proper wash mitt either? Although, he was going to polish it after anyway. Anyway, no doubt he does an incredible job, but some of those prices are crazy.

16 pounds for 2 MF towels??? Thats like 35 Canadian for two mf's. Either he is BS'ing, or things cost insane $$$ in the UK.

I believe the wax he uses is Zymol. I think you can get zymol vintage wax in the US for like 1500,.......that is a lifetime supply. (thats coming from someone else, not me).

Here is his site:

Ya, it's Zymol - I've seen it online for $1500 USD. I haven't seen it on a car in person but I have a hard time figuring out why it's so much money.

Good points! I guess when you're dealing with money, they want the story - not the facts.

Seems like there's a huge market to be exploited that we've already been beaten to...

Apply the "wax" by hand, eh? And it doesn't turn into wax until it's on the paint...interesting...

Remember, they have to hype up their detailing process to set themselves apart if they want to be detailing MC12 and Enzos. Looking at his process, it's the same as what most Autopians do.

Though his faults are:
1) washing in the sun
2) washing the car with some cloth instead of a mitt
3) washing the wheels AFTER washing the car
4) claiming that his wax turns as hard as rock after catalysis
4) getting ripped off on made in china/korea MF cloths (but then again, maybe they are special because they can wipe off a special rock-hard wax while leaving the paint unscathed).

I'd say my detailing process is similar to his, except that I use cheaper products. Zymol? Ripoff. There are only 2 tubs of that Zymol in the UK because only 2 people were stupid enough to buy them. They try to make it sound like those are the last 2 tubs in the UK. But I bet that they didn't tell the customer that he gets free wax refills ala burger king. LOL
