Engine Degreaser/Detailer.

Hello!

I have an 07 TSX with Navi, and 33K miles on the clock. I popped my hood yesterday, and noticed that my engine is starting to get dirty. It's not horrible, but it's dusty, and has accumulated a little bit of dirt. Anyway, I was just wondering what the best method for cleaning this would be? What is the safest engine degreaser that won't harm my clear bra/paint should some get on it?

Also, what do you all recommend for detailing the engine after cleaning it? Is the popular vote still for 303 Aerospace?

Please let me know!

303 Aerospace Protectant is great stuff. Your engine doesnt need to be degreased unless you have a nasty oil leak which i doubt is the case. I would recommend P21S Total Auto Wash.

Check out Todd's article on detailed image of a complete detail on a TL.

Here is another of his articles on just the engine bay.

P21S TAW and 303 Aerospace are going to be the best combo under the hood in my opinion.

You'll find most over the counter degreasers are adequate for light engine cleaning. You may need some advice on spraying water into the compartment, most of todays engine areas are for the most part water resiliant. I wouldnt necessarily put a high pressure rig to it, but I think your ok with a misting of OTC degreaser (Try to find a citrus base, environmentally safe cleaner) and a gentle stream of water. Good thing to stay on top of it maybe every 10,000 miles to alleviate build up. get yourself a good supply of cotton towels, no sense of wasting a good MF on cleaning.
As mentioned, 303 is an excellent "re-conditioner". It doesnt bring bling, just renews. Another good pairing would be Optimums Power Clean, as well as Optimum Protectant Plus, if you're online shopping strikes your fancy.
