Engine bay power wash
Engine bay power wash
I just bought my first car and I’m needing to locate a leak and the engine bay needs to seriously be cleaned out. I’ve been told twice now to power wash it but I’m most certainly afraid of messing something up. Is it good to power wash the engine bay?

1) A good way to start out, for informational purposes, on a car forum is to mention what year, make & model you are speaking of?
That way you can post your inquiry directly in that specific forum for potential helpful feedback.
2) If you have an idea, as to where the leak is originating (engine oil; power steering; transmission fluid), generally you can spray the area with brake clean and monitor for reoccurrence versus power washing the whole engine bay.
3) If you still want to power wash the engine bay, one could use preventative measures like covering any power fuse boxes, intake box inlets, and perhaps the throttle body, as examples?
Good Luck.
