DIY Headlight Restoration
Was the machine used in the video a rotary or a DA? I wasn't sure.
I often question the use of wet sanding. Why not first use a heavy compound and a cutting pad on a machine, instead of the wet sanding?

A DA will work as long as you can control the speed and have the right pads. when using a ROTARY of any sort, just be very careful to keep it moving and its very easy to burn through anything. I remember when i learned to use a rotary DA and buffer at a body shop, it wasn't pretty. Lets just say there were a lot of redo's and paint booth time. But that was 10 some years ago and now i can run one with my eyes closed.
I'll be doing the headlights to a family members car soon.
I don't have the rotary so I'll try the compounding step with my PC and a yellow pad, then a polish with an orange pad.
What sealant did you use? I was going to go with 4*UPP.
Thanks for your help.

How does this compare to Meguiar's plastic polish? I just scrubbed the hell out of my headlights with it and it did a really good job. I'm thinking the results won't be permanent though.
