How easily do car fenders ding? I had a door open into my fender today, but I surprisingly didn't notice a ding - could that actually be possible? The person's door didn't hit it that hard, but from my past experiences, it doesn't take much to ding a door/fender/quarter panel.

Anyway, I have the license plate, but is there a good method for checking small dings? I've been trying to see one (silver car), but I haven't been able to, and they already told me that they would cover the cost if there is a ding.

Any thoughts?

 

If you have a set of halogen lights, you could always shine those in the area and see if any of the light refracts unexpectedly.
