Detailing shops

So, I realized I really enjoy detailing cars. Have any of you guys ever used a detailing service? If so, how much did they charge? What did you have done? I'm considering maybe doing some cars on the weekend and if it goes well, hell, who knows? I appreciate y'alls input.

First, you're a crazy motherfucker.

Next, good for you. The world needs more detailers and fewer dentists. You're not a dentist, are you?

Third, where I live at least an average detailing costs about $60 if you drive there and wait, and about $90 if they come to you. I'm talking for a car like the TL. An SUV would cost more, of course, but then again the piece of shit drivers of SUVs who don't give a crap about the environment or our soldiers in Iraq or the ever-increasing amount of hormones in processed chicken breasts, well, they OUGHT to pay more. A really first-class detailing including claybar and a serious conditioning of the interior (not just a quick Lexol wipe of the leather) costs a lot more around here, upwards of $200-$250.

I guess it's a decent living if you're really that tired of filling teeth. You did say you were a dentist, didn't you?

Thanks for the information, TLGator. Not a dentist, but I do like to detail the chompers.

Hey, we've got similar politics!

What's an "average detailing" consist of? Just a wash and a vacuum?

Average detailing - vacuum interior, wipe all interior surfaces, quick Lexol leather wipe, clean interior glass, wash and wax exterior with ordinary wax products, dress tires and rims, clean exterior glass.

Fragrance is optional.

Flossing is VERY important. Zaino does wonders as toothpaste. Boltjames turned me on to that one.

Heres what you get with an Excel Platinum Detail:
Excel Platinum: Our signature detail, the Platinum service includes bumper to
bumper detailing. We start with cleaning the interior of your auto, vacuuming
all seating, headliners and carpeting (including floor mats). We then use safe
and gentle cleaners and conditioners on your vinyl, cloth, leather, plastic, and
carpets (including floor mats). Windows are cleaned inside and out, vents,
center console area and instrument panels are brushed and wiped clean, all
crevices are cleaned. The entire interior of your car is inspected and cleaned.
Any personal items found, are bagged and returned to you. Even your trunk is
vacuumed! Exterior detailing begins with cleaning, claying, and polishing your
cars paint, removing swirl marks, oxidation and light scratches, this is what
brightens the paint. Then Polymer and/or Carnauba sealants are applied to help
protect your finish from further oxidation, and to help protect from natures
elements. Basic wheel cleaning and tire treatment is included. We use only the
finest products available, including Klasse, Blackfire, Platinum, 3M, Clearkote,
and S100 products! The entire process averages 5-6 hrs. Prices starting at
$159.00

A TL, would be at that price......
