Detailed The Expedition!

I am getting the bus ready for our yearly trip to New Jersey...My wife is from there so we go there once a year to visit with friends and family...So I figured I better get something on the car to help me with cleaning later...

This is no correction though...I didnt have time...As it was this was a 7 hour detail plus sealant time...

- Wash with citrus stripper
- Clay with Chemical Guys Clay and Luber
- Chemical Guys Blacklight Applied with Black Pad on 7424XP
- Blackfire Wet Diamond Applied with Black Pad on 7424XP
- Pinnacle Signature Series II applied with BLack Pad on 7424XP

I also applied Mothers Back To Black on all the plastics...I sealed all the "chrome" and the plastics...Before we leave for New Jersey I am going to apply opti-seal to all the glass and mirrors and hit the interior with some 303 Aerospace Protectant and some Zaino Leather Cleaner and Conditioner...

Please forgive me not getting the pictures right after I was done but it was LATE at night Sunday and I had to be at work at 5am...LOL...So these pictures are with about 80 miles and sitting outside overnight...

I found a way to fit the truck in the garage and used ALOT of fans LOL...My motivation was not having to clean 1200 miles worth of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey bugs, guts and grime off it without any base to help pull it off...

Looks good Chris .. as for the bugs etc one $4 trick you could try , and I have used it, is to apply bleack electrical tape to the leading edge of the hood & bumpers. It only takes a few minutes and might look odd but it does work great and comes off easy.

You know which areas get it the most ... just do it there. saves a lot of paint scrubbing abuse.

or Bacon fat!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the tips...I may just do that...And the bacon LOL

I have to say I am a true believer in a good bug sponge...That made the job of getting the initial bugs guts off...I never liked them before but they saved me some time this time...

Kinda worried about what these guido bugs will do to the paint LOL...Im expecting alot of orange fake tan and hair dye to be on the front of the car when its all done...

Looking good Chris!! The paint looks wet!

Detailing a massive car like that is a very daunting task.

Thanks!

Yes this was a very daunting task and halfway through I really thought WTF am I doing this truck is huge...

I may just actually pay someone to do the compound and polishing unless I find a stash of beer and more patience...

Nice work, looks great.

I've always detailed my wife's SUVs and it sucks. I can't imagine doing an Expedition.

Shiny truck!

Looks good. Maybe wrap the car in saran wrap for the drive?

Looks good, would be interesting to see some pics when you get back from the trip, before you clean it up.
