Detailed: Black 2001 Mercedes-Benz C320 - More Pics Coming

I was given this car for clay, some serious correction, and wax and let me say, this is by far the worst black car I have tackled to date. Many of the real bad swirls were quite superficial but some others were far too deep into the clearcoat for me to feel comfortable removing so much clear. So the correction was only about 90%.

There are no after photos as the job was a 10-hour gig and I delivered after dusk and got started late which really grinds my gears. I'll try to get some after photos ASAP as the car belongs to my next door neighbor. Shouldn't be too hard.

Enjoy...here is how I got the car. You can just see the hazing and lack of depth in the paint. It was actually oxidizing pretty badly in some spots, especially the hood.

The side of the car peppered with heavy swirls and holograms.

Just no depth to the paint at all; this is the hood.

And a middle-of-process shot with a side-by-side after just one pass.

good luck with that, mercedes uses some really hard clear coat....your going to have to get agressive with that, maybe even a rotary for the really tough areas....

Andrew,

Yep, that one was in desperate need for sure. Fortunately though it wasn't a 2004+ when they switched to ceramiclear. Look forward to seeing more pics if you can get them.

Do yourself a favor and buy that Makita!!!

It's on my list...trust me. I'm going to go the junkyard and buy some dark colored body panels/doors to practice on.

I have some after pics...they'll be up later tonight.

I apologize for the teasing and the long wait. I just now got the photos off my camera and onto the computer. Here are the best after photos I could get.

Dang, that black really is deep! Those super clean wheels also make the car look amazing.

Thank you, sir. Not usually one to toot my own horn, I saw it drive by the day after and thought "wow that looks good" without realizing what car it was.

I had help with the wheels. While I polished, my friend jacked up the car and removed the wheels one at a time and deep cleaned them off the car. Having the backsides clean makes all the difference in the world.

Hehe, sometimes I catch myself doing that too.

Yeah, cleaning the wheel barrels completely clean really does help out a lot. Unfortunately not every client can afford to have that part of the vehicle thoroughly cleaned.
