Dealer used Z5, should I use Zaino over it again?

The detailing guy at the dealership just told me he used Zaino Z5 on my new TSX, after I bought the whole Zaino package with a weekend polish project in mind. So now I am thinking if I should go ahead with the Z1 then Z2 project, or wait for 6 month then do it? And do I need to strip the whole car with Dawn? The detailing guy told me to use alcohol . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should be able to just go over the Z5 with the Z2, I don't believe there's a need for Z1 since the first layer is already down (unless the detailing guy screwed up). If you're ready and willing and have all the tools, I'd go over the car now now, why wait for another 6 months? Dawn will not strip existing Zaino off the car, you only need to do that if you are applying to an unprepped vehicle. A good car wash soap should be more than enough to prep the car before another application of Zaino. Alcohol, OTOH, will strip the Zaino down.

Thanks for the tip. Now I am just waiting for the temperature to go up a bit (anywhere above 50) to do the Z2.

If you tell the dealership to use Zaino, there's a good chance they won't do it properly unless they have a dedicated professional detailer - Zaino involves a lot of steps and can be time consuming. You're better off finding a professional detailer in your area who's worked with Zaino before if you want it applied and don't want to do it yourself.

There's not really five levels of Zaino, just different products numbered differently. The average person will only have to use 2 or 3 actual sealant products in the Zaino line (Z1, Z2 or Z5), the other products are for non-clearcoated cars or refer to their shine-enhancing spray (Z6),car wash (Z7), etc.

Really, if you have the time, applying Zaino is not difficult, it's just a time-consuming process as you have to prep the car and the Zaino will take time to dry.

I dunno why he would have used Z5 on a brand new car. Z5 is designed to help with swirls and scratches. Z2 has more reflectivity and would work better.

Use a 50/50 alcohol/water mix to remove that stuff. Wash it down, clay it (wash and clay at the same time is easier), dry, and apply 2 or 3 coats of Z2. Make sure you use the ZFX with the Z2.
