Constant water drops on car.

i always park my car closest to my house as i could (to prevent HID theft and etc)..
but the thing is, my hood is under the corner of my houses gutter and when it rains/snows, water drops on my hood constantly.. i was wondering, is this really bad for my paint, will it soften out my clear coat or anything like that? i dont notice anything visibly.
thanks

Personally i would try to avoid it.....Have you seen what water drops (over time) do to concrete ? Its additional wear on the surface that could be avoided.

how do those water defects in cars happen? i think it's called water spots/stains or something along those lines..
i would park further back, but i hate to risk the higher chance of theft..
i was just wondering if this is extremely bad or it's nothing really.
thanks guys.

Water Spots:
These fall into one of two categories,
a) Surface water spots-alkaline watermarks (water spots) are calcium and magnesium salts that deposit on the surface after the water has evaporated, the minute crystals bond to the surface and are not re-dissolvable in water. Rainwater also contains alkaline minerals that alight on the paint film surface and as the water evaporates leave white `water spots' on both the paint and glass surfaces.
Below surface (etched) water spots- are caused by acid rain or industrial fallout causing a chemical reaction, if left for any length of time they will etch the paint film surface leaving a concave circular mark.

Rain Spots

Mike,
Rain by itself is not a big deal. I had my TSX outside during two different hurricanes and to this day the car still looks awesome. However, I wouldn't leave it where the rain is dripping off a roof or something else and then on your car, since you don't know what is else is coming from that.
On the other hand water from sprinklers is a nightmare. If that ever gets on your car, wipe it off quickly or less it is a real pain. Also water left from a hose when washing can leave spots(they are not as hard to get out as sprinklers, but much more of a problem than the rain) Bottom line, is rain is not something to worry about- but i do use a quick detail spray to wipe off the spots from the rain (after it dries and within a couple of days. The thing I hate about the rain, is driving in it, since all the dirt from the road is sprayed on the car, and this ultimately causes me to wash the car.
