Clear Coating?
Clear Coating?
Does anyone know if it's possible to just clear coat a car without having to repaint and sanding?
I am considering clear coating a white 98 Jetta VR6 just to get rid of the spider web lines/fine scratches. Are these fine scratches on the clear coat or on the paint?
Opinions and advice welcome.
Thanks in advance the info.

The clearcoat is the top layer of paint, to redo it would be sanding and respraying. What you need to do to get rid of the spiderwebing, is polish the paint, not wax but polish. Polish has fillers that will hide the fine scratches. You need an obital polisher. Start with the least abrasive polish, if that doesn't work move to the next level (more abrasive).. You may have to go over the same area multiple times. When you have removed all your scatches then rewax. If this is to much take it to a Prof.Detailer
