Clear bra question
Clear bra question
I'm planning on getting a clear bra on my car. But after looking at some of the pictures of cars detailed and such, it seems like a lot of them don't have clear bras on. So I'm wondering, if I get a clear bra, would I have to put a layer of wax and sealant on first before getting the clear bra? Or do I leave it as is, and just have the clear bra installed. Then after getting the clear bra, would I just apply polish, wax...etc on it as if it was the body of the car itself? Would the paint underneath have the same protection as the other body panels that don't have the clear bra?
Or should I skip on the clear bra all together...? So confusing lol.

I would think that you could polish but no sealant on before the clear bra. You want a good oil free clean surface for the bra to stick to. I have a clear bra on my white M3, I seal it and polish it just like paint. It is from 3M and has an actual clearcoat.
I have a 3M clear bra on my TL-S. Prior to installation make sure that your paint is polished and that all of the polishing oils have been removed. A 70% alcohol wipedown will work fine. Do not use a sealant before installation. After the clear bra has cured (~2 weeks) you can apply your favorite sealant. The clear bra can be polished but it is not exactly paint. If you get some scratches I would use an all-in-one polish like XMT360 or Poliseal using a PC with a white polishing pad. These polishes have mild abrasives and include some initial protection. I would still top it with a sealant.
