cleaning tinted windows

I've read somewhere, don't remember where, but using window cleaner such as windex is bad for the tint because, i guess cuz windex is a basic solution (mostly NH3). So whats a good solution to use to clean the inside part of the windows, or is it best to just use water?

Because i still have some residue left on the rear window from the tint job.

any help would be appreciated..Thanks

Use a non-abrasive glass cleaner like Stoner's Invisible Glass

Caution: do not use products that contain ammonia, as it is very harmful to vinyl, plastic and rubber. It will cause plastic to ‘yellow’ and become clouded and it will also turn Mylar (plastic) window tint purple.

I use 20% white vinegar / water with a microfiber. Works fine. Vinegar smell dissapates within minutes

so stoners is safe on the tint then?

Is there anything else that doens't require me to buy anything. Would water on a cloth work just as well?

Water is a great solvent but has limited cleaning ability when dealing with the outgassing pasticizers from the viynl dash, grease and road grime introduced via the AC system.

Glass Cleaning Cloth: (but this will entail 'buying something')
This Microfiber 18” x 18” (Norwex) glass cleaning cloth has a super tight knit, lint free, cross-weave construction traps and collects water and is so effective (use damp) at cleaning glass that often a glass cleaner chemical (Stoner’s Invisible Glass) isn't even necessary. It features a very low-pile cut in a zigzag pattern, which literally attracts and removes off gassing, residue, smudges and oily fingerprints. Its efficient cleaning action is truly a time saver Norwex Glass Cleaning Towel

Stoner's invisible glass works good on tinted windows..
it is safe on them.. says so on the bottle..

i had sticky shit left from some dealer sticker on the inside of the glass... and i have tints...
i used stoner's to get it off.. took a couple of times and alot of scrubbing but it comes off... be persistant...

Id be worried to use other products like adhesive remover because i think it will definately take the tint off with it!

Use Stoner's w/some crumpled up newspaper..or use Meguiars NXT Glass Cleaner w/Microfiber towel a.k.a blue towel from Pepboys.

Oh..and about using water w/a towel..yes, it does clean but you risk the chance of scratching your tints when just washing w/water+towel. Take it from me, I put 2 scratches on my passenger tints.

yeah i know newspaper works great, but i actually have another question about what type of cloth to use on the tinted side of the window.

use water, stoners, meguiars glass cleaner, etc. Would it be better to use a microfiber towel or use one of those glass towels from the local pepboys or autozone?

i prefer not to use newspaper because they are rough and i don't want to risk scratching up the tint. So its either the Microfiber towel or the blue window wash towel

When the newspaper starts to leave behind lint, it's b/c you've over-used the newspaper. Solution? ..go grab some more newspaper.
