This is what I was thinking please tell me if I am wrong...

Step 1 - Wash - Using two bucket method of course with California Gold
Step 2 - Dry - Using a leaf blower and blotting with a MF
Step 3 - Clay - Clay bar with my mother clay kit
Step 4 - Compound - Optimum Hyper Compound with yellow pads
Step 5 - Polish - Optimum Hyper Polish with with green pads
Step 6 - Sealer - BFWD with blue pad
Step 7 - CG BL - CG blacklight with black pad
Step 8 - Final Step - V7-Optical Spray Sealant by hand with Microfiber

Now question is should I try and slap a coat of AGHD on there between step 7 and 8 or will this stand up on its own?

I got shot down for the leaf blower idea since it could kick up floor dust and put it back on your car right before wiping down with the microfiber.

Honestly, there is no RIGHT way. I'm coming from throwing on some Gold Class Megs every 12 months to full detail and the best way is to try yourself. I will say that after trying different combinations etc you can start to eliminate extraneous products/steps becuase sometimes more work just makes better results in our heads!

I open the trunk (have spoiler) and gas door and flip the mirrors and open/close the doors a few times just to get all that loose water out that will normally come out as soon as she's perfectly dry and I move the car.

Then I use the window jelly squeeze taking care to make sure the blade edge is clean before each swipe. Then I finish with a huge Waffle Weave towel I have just for drying.

I am still waiting on my CG, ADS, and DI orders to come in sadly....They seem to be so dang slow on shipping anymore...I have some good microfibers coming from CG and 1 or 2 from my blacklight order...

Need to invest in a good lighting setup now so I can do a better detail in the garage...Trying to talk the wife into OK'ing a new 3 car garage as I am completely over the 2 car we have in this house...We had a 3.5 before and I cant get good lighting in this 2 car which sucks...

Thinking about grabbing a foam cannon this spring as well to try out I need to bring my pressue washer out of the basement for the wheel wells and the cannon...

Last time I washed it I forgot to open the trunk when drying which was dumb on my part...But I normally do the same to get all the crevices...

So much new to learn with these new products...I have been a devoted Zaino user for the past 10 years and have used STRICTLY their products...

let me know asap about the blacklight and v7 optical ... I am so highly interested in those products after reading up on them.. Either A. they have a good marketing crew, or B. the stuff is legit... either way decently priced and I am itching to get it on my paint.

Will do...For $48 its a pretty decent price...I am just waiting on shipping...I think the ipwn coming to verizon has jacked up everything shipping all around the US...

know what's funny
I would wet my pants for a 2 car...I tried my first detail in a 1 car with 5 bikes hanging from ceiling etc...not the best conditions.

To be honest with you, since I CAN'T totally avoid swirls...I actually find the Z-6 to be the best at giving the car such a glossy look you don't really notice them. Zaino all the way, at least in my book!

I had a one car garage one time when I had my townhouse...I used it strictly for beer pong and my car NEVER got parked in it...I gotta have my room to breathe...Only issue is my neighborhoods HOA would shit a brick if I built a 3 car addition to the 2 car...

I loved Zaino for 10 years...And still use their leather cleaner and conditioner...But I dont care for their maintenance of products...Hell I still have an entire bottle of ZFX with the 4 sampling tubes sitting on my rack...

I have double of everything Zaino almost...my fiance didn't pay attention when I reup'd my products and got me a whole new set for Christmas. I love the tire shine, leather care etc...Z5 is a waste...doesn't last long and doesn't hide anything. Z2 is awesome...Z6 is good for touchup or lubing...their clay is good.

I don't kid myself into thinking it'll do anything for swirls though, I have Megs 105 and the whole Optimum lineup for that. Then I seal it up with the Z2.

I used to have a full set on hand at any given time...But now I just used their leather cleaner/cond...

Their clay lube is great but right now all clay is the same...

I am a strict planner by nature and its my flaw...LOL

Before I can do anything major (in my mind) I have to have all possibilities that are possible laid out for analysis...

Thats one of the reasons why I excelled in the military so well...

So jealous of you and your own detailing shelf...

All my car care products are relegated to a bucket in the trunk of my car No space for anything.

I hear BFWD is one of the best around, GL with it!

Frankly, I am getting a little tired of the $10 shipping charge no matter what I order from any detailing place.

There is just no way that 6 LC pads require $10 to ship.

I hate them, but the USPS has small Flat Rate boxes for 4.95 and Medium for $10 with TWO DAY delivery. Most online retailers are saying they are shipping ground with 6-8 day delivery for $10 and charging $30 for 2-3 day shipping...

I agree 110%...And the sad thing is since I am on the east coast CG stuff takes well over a week to get to me...Detailed Image takes 6 days and they are in NYC...I bet I spent $60 in the past week on shipping from detail shops...Its rather irritating at best...I need to order some more stuff but wont until I can get a sizable order together because I refuse to pay shipping charges that exceed the price of the product...

On top of that (sorry for the rant OP) No one shop has everything i need.

LC CCS pads, Blackfire and Optimum HP Spray. Three places, three shipping charges.

Only one of the places I just ordered from do I not have any problem with the shipping charge and that is Patrick becuase I jhave ordered from him and he takes care of his customers, but I ordered six PC pads and the shipping was $10??? What do these things weigh? 8 Total ounces for all of them? Come on..

I just don't see how I pay $10 on average for shipping and it takes a week to get here...The orders that were heavy I can understand but on some of the stuff that is light I just don't understand how the shipping is damn near the same...I understand they are trying to recoup some of their money on the price of the product but I would rather have them be more honest with the actual cost...Its like on ebay when you find a good price on something but then you see that the shipping is like $150 and ends up being more then the thing costs on the regular...

I really wish their was a shop locally around me that would stock the higher end products...

But any hoot got another package in last night...CG 5.5 Backing plate...Seems like a damn nice product from just looking at the quality and such...

Nice collection. I reccommend ONR. It's great stuff. I have BFWD but I haven't even touched it. Let us know what you think of the products you bought. =)

Your thread inspired me...
Did another coat of Z-2 this weekend

PS, yeah, I ALWAYS rack my brain and try and order everything I need so I only pay shipping once. Like with pricepoint.com for bike parts...it's $6.99 up to 50 and $8.99 for up to 100 bucks of stuff...SO, I always wait till I have a batch of things. When you add on shipping, it's sometimes cheaper to get stuff in person. I wonder what demand there would be for a high end detailing product shop in South Florida?!?

PS, yeah, I ALWAYS rack my brain and try and order everything I need so I only pay shipping once. Like with pricepoint.com for bike parts...it's $6.99 up to 50 and $8.99 for up to 100 bucks of stuff...SO, I always wait till I have a batch of things. When you add on shipping, it's sometimes cheaper to get stuff in person. I wonder what demand there would be for a high end detailing product shop in South Florida?!?
No clue but I wish there was one in VA...I hate paying out the ass for shipping...Detailed Image had a deal going on this weekend for Free Shipping for orders over $50...I would order alot more if places would get real with shipping...

I shipped a box of AGHD to Mississippi for $10.50 using 3 day shipping...

I thought I read somewhere that the 50/50 wipedown was unneccessary, maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, can't wait to see the end result. This is turning into one of those thriller movies...big build and waiting on the end of the movie to see it all come together.

No clue everyone I have talked to said to use IPA between compound and polish...

My wife is a RN so her schedule is loopy at best...But If she works Friday night I should be able to get it all done in the garage in a couple 6 or so hours...

After all this work and planning, give yourself ample time. I would probably focus on a good compound/swirl removal that night. Even with a machine, it's a lot of labor.

I started off doing a mediocre job trying to do the whole car in one shot. Now, I do piece by piece...I correct the top surfaces of the car...then seal it all up...then did the doors, and recently did the bumpers etc.
