WD-40 does work good, and looks great if you are at a show, but when driving the greasy film left on the wheels is a magnet for brake dust. I myself use wax on the rims and tail pipes, keeps them looking sick, all the grime comes right off and they shine like a mo fo!

WD-40

It is basically Kerosene. But like many petroleum based products they make great solvents.

WD-40 is good for a few things, but in general it is a waste of money. There are MUCH better lubricants and penetrating oils out there.

I use the Mother's chrome polish or billet polish. Both seem to work well.

I use Turtle Chrome Polish. I suppose just about any chrome polish would do. I wouldn't use WD-40 except maybe as a solvent to clean the exhaust tips. It would probably work well if they were gunked up with brake dust, tar or other road debris. But as a polish, no.

That said, some old people my grandparents knew when wintering in AZ would swear by WD-40 for loosening up their arthritic knees. They'd just rub it on and claim a miracle.

I tell the guy washing my car to shine them up.

BTW, I have it washed 3 to 4 times a week.

Same here. Works very well on all chrome parts.
