CFLs for detailing?
CFLs for detailing?
I'm going to be polishing for the first time next month, and read that you need good lighting to see when the polish has broken down and to inspect for swirls and spiderwebs. I've got a 500W halogen lamp that I use sometimes for garage work, but unless it's the dead of winter the thing puts off too much heat (not to mention wasting energy). Has anyone seen a worklight which uses CFLs, or some more efficient lighting?
Lights schmitez!!
Whats a matter with the sun? 99% of the time, I just use good ol mother nature. On occasion, I will use some quartz lights 500/1000w when Im detailing in an underground garage or when the customer doesnt have sufficient lighting. But (and this is just my opinion) I think very often times, people get a little carried away with swirl removal. One must do whats practical and acceptable to their liking. Chances are, your going to be polishing again anyway in the following season, leave some clear for next time. Its a daily driver anyway isnt it?
Im not saying dont give it your best, Im just saying, be practical and have fun doing it. Keep it a hobby, and not a chore.
