Carpet Cleaning Techniques

What is the best way to clean the carpeting in the car? I don't want to clean them by hand. My mom has a carpet steamer for the house. It has attachments for small areas. Do you think this would work well. Also what are some good products? I am also thinking about buying some rubber floor mats for the winter. These protected my carpeting very well in my last car.

Ryan, by all means, extraction is best. Take the implements and see if you have the ability to maneauver them to suit your needs.
If not: Vacuum well, get some carpet/upholstery cleaner. I like one made by Prestone (Believe it or not)

I spray, scrub longitude, then latitude, then revacuum. Then take a nylon brush and give it some gatorback!!
What I did with these mats, you can do with carpet and some elbow grease....!

That looks awsome. I bought my car from a mercedes dealer and thats how my carpeting looked. I didnt want to mess it up. I was trying to figure out how to make it look like that. Thanks for the info.

Wao, this seems to be a great product...

I have stains on the inside carpet (light blackish / brownish).
I read previously that 303 Cleaner and Spot Remover is recommeneded by Excel.

1. Which one of these two will work best to remove old stains?

2. I replaced my mats with rubber mats. But, dirts can often go under the rubber mats and stain the inside carpet? What do u guys put underneath the mats to prevent this?

3. Excel, I am planning to get the Optimum Car Wax, which is about $3 cheaper in your store. And will wait for comments about this carpet cleaner products before purchasing the 303 carpet cleaner as well. I live in the LA area, but not sure if you actually have a physical store??? LOL...if so, what are the office hours?
(tried to avoid shipping cost here)

Thanks.

303 makes great cleaners and protectants.....I recommend just about anything the company makes!

I would go with the Fabric Guard which has cleaning componants and protection.

Good question. I have the Husky Liners in both of my cars.....

Yup, thanks. But, I checked the address, it's about 40 miles, so I just placed the order online.

I also ordered the Excel Blue Supreme towel, per Hawhyen51 rec. for $2.49.

After I placed the order, I saw this product: http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...xcel%20supreme
My question is: as far as plush-ness, which towel is better?

PS: Hawhyen51, thanks for the rec., but just checking out an alternative here.
