brushless car washes

I know you guys are probably going to want to kill me but this weekend i took my tsx to a brushless car wash, i was busy and the car was filthy, i guess you can say i learned my lesson b/c when i was drying the car down i noticed some faint scratch marks, i was wondering if there is anything i could use to make them disappear so to speak, any feedback you have would be great, thanks

You sure it wasn't already there? I have to take mine through the brushless wash often to get rid of the road salt. No damage here.

Maybe i'm missing the point, you went to a brushless wash, that would mean touchless.. RIGHT?

Do you mean one WITH brushes?

except for very high pressure water.... try putting your hand in one of the jets... and then tell me it's touchless.

i don't know what a touchless car wash is but by me they have softcloth car washes (called brushless) that use use tons of foam pads (think those 70's beads hanging down from a doorway but wider and made out of foam) that hit down on your cars as you pass, this happens while soap is usually being sprayed on the car, then you go through another series of foam pads this time while the car is being rinsed, finally you reach the blowers and then the attendants who dry off the car, well they never really do a good enough job to call it dry.....i am pretty sure they weren't there before hand, i mean i have only had the car 3 weeks and i at work i park on the lower level with not a car in sight and then at home i am in the back of my driveway....i think i am going to start sticking with the self serve car washes

There's your problem. Don't let stuff (like this) touch your car. In a "touchless" wash, all that touches your car is water and soap. Try to find one of those.

well... like i said... in a touchless car wash... just soap and water... the water is sprayed on under heavy duty pressure... which sometimes can scratch your car as it removes dirt. This shows up clearly on darker colored cars.

another reason the ones with foam and brush car washes are bad is dirt. They get it off the car but it stays on the brushes, which is then brushed and rubbed against your car

granted the touchless ones are pretty high pressure but it's better then that.

here in new jersey we have hand car washes, those are the best.
they wash you car with those mitts( the ones you can buy at autozone, pep boys, etc...) no scratches at all

I wash it myself. Touchless car washes use very high pressure water jets. Unless you know for sure that the water is filtered you may get particles mixed in with the water hitting your TSX at high speed. Am I paranoid? Probably.

I find that no-touch washes never get my car clean. They also take a lot longer and there's lineups on busy days. Therefore, I take my chances with the yes-touch washes.

Hey guys, i think we are getting off topic of my original question, is there anything to help those faint scratches or is there anything besides not going to the car wash that can prevent the scratches?

Thanks,

Prevention: DON'T LET STUFF TOUCH YOUR CAR!

Help: Try a mild polish/protectant. I've never tried it, but Zaino seems to be the most highly recommended.
