Best way to clear a scratch?

My CTS-V was dinged by a door in the parking lot at work the other day. It is driving me absolutely batsh!t to see it, especially on a new car (7 mos, 7k miles). It's a small dent and some scratches that appear not to have broken through the clearcoat.

Honestly, I can live with the dent, but the scratch is visible, so it has to go! Looking for the best approach to this. Touch up paint? Clear coat?

TIA!

You can see the dent at the center of the rear door.

A closer look at the door reveals the scratch.

Macro shot with crop showing the scratch itself. It is at the bottom of the dent.

Pix taken with my new Canon G11.

Bob, looks like most of that can come out with some OTC polish.
"Got polish?"

Thanks for the recommendation! Based on that, I bought some Quixx today. That stuff is not BS. The scratch is 98% gone, there's only a tiny dot left that I might redo when it's warmer outside. I had to use a tiny bit of Dawn to remove the Zaino layer I put on last week, then I followed all instructions for the Quixx, and less than five minutes later....presto, no scratch!

The dent is invisible to my wife, though not to me. It's so small that I think I'll leave it alone for now, I don't think even those store-bought dent pullers are small enough to do the job.

Some wax with rubbing compound usually works the best. You might also have to try an orbital buffer. It the scratches are deep, it might be impossible to get them out, but it will look alot better in any case.

the scratch was probably mostly paint transfer if you were able to remove it by hand....i would still visit the dent doc to get the dent out...if i were you i would stop parking between other cars!!

Yeah, Bob. Get a dent doc to take that out. They are amazing. Find someone who specializes in dents, not just a detail shop who does it on the side. As far as the scratch, a light wetsanding may help.

Ahhh, I know how that feels. Yea that scratch is an easy one. But I have a door ding too. Almost invisible to others but it stands out for me because I baby my car. After that door ding, I would park either far away or if I find a parking at the ends of the lot, then I'll take it

Speaking of dings, what about roof dings from acorns? Anyone else dealt with that?

Does that stuff really work?
I've been watching the videos but not quite sure if I can believe them or not

hey neuronbob, do you flinch everytime you see the dent? It still gets to me on my car. But I just have to learn that a DD car will always have defects due to accidents and nature. I see other cars out there and EVERY one of them have defects. It's just the way things are and if we were to live in a world of no accidents, none of us would need insurance or body shops.

I tell myself that every time I see a new scratch, dent, or paint chip.

LOL! I know you are totally right. The dent appears to have partially improved on its own. I've therefore left it alone and moved on, and applied a full Zaino setup including a couple coats of Z2 in the weeks since. Made me feel much better to see the Silver Dragon sparkling. In fact, it's time to go wash with some Z7 if it warms up a little today.

^you got a very stunny V neuronbob, glad you got the scratch near gone. Clean car, the only thing that sorta bothers me on the design of that car would be the rear doors, but grats on the purchase. Hows it run?

My neighbor's car got small dents on the roof because some kids stepped on it. He used some dry ice on them and it worked. All of the dents were gone. You should give it a try.
