Best Way to Clean Tires?

I recently used Turtle Wax F21 Spray-On Wheel Cleaner. Instructions are basically Spray On, then Hose Off.

Well -- that's what I did and now I have brownish lines across my tires where the water and the wheel's dirt, etc ran across the tires.

What's the best way to a) clean the tires and b) avoid having this happen again the next time that I clean my wheels?

Thanks!

P.S.: I wasn't real impressed with how the wheels looked after using the F21 either.....

I use Eagle 1 wheel and tire cleaner and a stiff brush. Spray the stuff on and wait a minute or so, then take the brush to the tire and rinse off. That just spray on and wash off has never worked for me. Maybe if you tried the F21 again and used a brush you would have better results.

I use armor all wheel and tire cleaner. I spray my tires real good let it sit for 5mins then brush them with my a soaked rim brush and rinse, then scrub again and rinse. let them dry naturally and then I use armor all tire foam and tires look great and it lasts a solid 2weeks unless it rains of course. the shine is awesome BTW.

I use power washer, Fantastic, SOS pad, and a scrunge. Apply liquid silicone with a paintbrush and wipe with paper towels. Hate the Michelins so much, they don't get silicone, they go in the trash after they sweep the streets of the sand.

I'm with you. The Eagle 1 Tire Wheel and Tire Cleaner is great. Guru Reports agrees.

I have used just about every tire cleaner/shine I could find and armor all tire foam is the best. I know it is OTC and people are like "well this one is better" but for the money and the results "IT IS THE BEST". all you have to do it scrub the shit out of your tires, clean them with what you wash your car with 1-2 times let them dry, then spray armor all wheel cleaner on them scrub, rinse, scrub, rinse, dry spray armor all tire foam on them and the shine will blind your eyes.

Wesleys Bleech Wite on the rubber only .. I don't use anything on the wheels .. nor should you have to if they aren't neglected.

Spray on foams etc only mask the dirt thats on there ... if you want clean black tires you need to clean them then dress them ..

what i do that works the best

I wash the tire like i wash the rims, then wipe it dry and spray on the armoral ultra shine good amount then pull your car up a few inches so the bottom of the tire is now the top and spray some more, wipe down over spray off from the rims do not wipe tire, and let it sit for a few minutes and then your set, the armoral does not atrack dirt and dust like the other stuff out there take my advice its the best.

Word, bleech white works great for me, i buy the big ass jug at walmart. I like to then top it with the meguiars endurance gel, gives one hell of a shine and last a long time too.
