Best Way To Clean Inside Of Windshield?

After avoiding the subject for 6000 miles, I just had to try to clean the inside of the windshield. As posted last week, I messed up a bit by using Windex and a 100% cotton "glass cleaning cloth" purchased at the local auto shop. Got lots of tiny micro scratches and swirls all over the thing.....can't see it during the day/night but you can during sunset and under bright overhead lights when its pitch black out. Bought the Zaino window repair stuff and am wondering- after I fix my micro scratches....

What is the best way to clean the interior windshield of the TL? Is the glass coated in a way that is prone to scratching? Why can't I remove all the film with the good ol' microfiber towel as I've done in all my other Honda/Acura products? What do you guys use to a) clean the windshield, b) leave no dust behind on the dash, and c) eliminate the scratch factor?

TIA

I've used prepackaged windex wipes several times. No swirl problems. Looks pretty good - minimal streaking.

I find it difficult to wipe the area where the glass meets the dash. Not a good angle for the wrist.

I have not tried it in the car yet, but we just bought "Perfect Glass" for use in the house - windows, mirrors etc. and so far it has been awesome. Blows Windex away - no smears, smudges etc. Really, really impressive. I think it was like $5 at Bed Bath Beyond - in a black bottle. If I get a few minutes I will try it on the car and see if it works just as well.

I have only used paper towels so I cannot suggest anything - I guess I would have tried a Micro as well.

I use Stoners Invisible Glass with a microfiber glass cleaning cloth I found at Detailers Paradise , it works great and doesn't leave any streaks. I got much better results with this cloth than I did with paper towels.

Do Not use Windex!!
It has ammonia in it and that is not good for the vinyl or plastic or the window tinting film or just about anything else it comes in contact with. Use Invisible Glass or some other made for automobile use window cleaner. Now as far as getting the smears off, if you have waited this long you may have to go over it several times in order to get it really clean. Use progressively less cleaner each time until the last time the paper towel or whatever you are using is almost dry. Use a clean towel each time though. Try not to swirl it. Go back and forth as best you can. It also helps to have really long arms and being a contortionist won't hurt either.

I use, and have used, Eagle One 20/20 Perfect Vision Auto Glass Cleaner for over 10 years and have never found anything better! I have found ALL of Eagle One's automotive products to be first rate. I know everyone uses all of those high profile, well known, car care products but I unequivocally recommend Eagle One.

I found the inside of the windshield to this car's biggest cleaning challenge. I generally avoid any "product" as they all have something that leaves residue, and use only water.

That said, I've had good results removing the schmutz by using a 25% ammonia solution - spray on a paper towel OUTSDIDE of the car and use it to wash the glass twice. Rinse well with a clean chamois, but leave some water behind. Dry with paper towels. Use vertical strokes and then horizontal ones to remove anything left behind (you should be able to feel the remains of the vertical wipes). Remember that glass must be completely dry in order to be streak-free.

Getting windows smear-free has more to do with what kind of towel, etc you are using than the window cleaner... Some say newspaper, which sometimes does ok, but tends to be messy and leaves small hair-like fibers on glass... The best thing is a good quality microfiber towel and a little window cleaner or just water, distilled is suppose to be best.
I use a microfiber and a little cleaner made my Finish-First, this is also the best window cleaner I have found, better than Stoners.... Sometimes I will use a window polish before final cleaning, this removes all the heavy stuff and any water spots. Makes the final cleaning look even better.

Thanks guys. Newspaper? Can't imagine that, but I'll try the old bathroom towel and the Zaino cleaner when it arrives.

Anyone tried the triangular-shaped pads which attach to a handle?

Have seen them in Griot's, California Car Cover and other catalogs. Has another bonnet for the dashboard and other uses.

Newspaper

is awesome for cleaning glass as the ink in it will attract and capture dust and schmootz...stay away from ammonia as other stated - stoners is great - never tried Zaino glass but seen awesome results on autopia.
