Best Solution for Paint Defect - 2010 TSX
Picked up a new 2010 TEX (Grigio) earlier this week and on way out, noticed a paint defect on the hood -- it appears to be a glob of paint under the clearcoat. Not visible in direct sunlight, but clearly visible in the shadows (see pictures in the Photo Gallery under TSX Paint Defect; can't post pics here for some reason)
Dealer is proposing the "wet sand" off the excess paint and re-clearcoat the affected area. Is this the best solution? Anything else you would recommend?
If that does not work, they are saying that the whole hood will need to be repainted - this seems awfully severe for a small problem and I am worried that the hood finish will never be the same as the rest of the car.
Just living with it is an option as well (though not my first). I do not want to go down a path where the solution makes the problem worse.
Any insight or advice would be appreciated. The patient is scheduled for surgery on Saturday morning.
