I had a really bad experience with this sheepskin wash mitt I bought 6 months ago and used about 15-20 times. It started out great - nice and plush that held lots of water, but in the past month, it started shedding. Worst of all, after being dry, the actual pad the sheepskin was glued(?) onto became extremely hard like cardboard. I always rinse my mitts thoroughly after wash, wring and hang dry... but this mitt wasn't made to last disappointed at the quality to say the least.

I have a dedicated wheel/tire sponge, but used the mitt since it won't be touching my car anymore

jeez.. that thing looks like roadkill.

that sucks. ive never used real sheep..
i stick with MF. they seem to work and are reasonably priced.

Ugh, I was going to buy my first sheepskin mitt today. This has me thinking twice.

I have had 10 or better sheepskin mitts over the years and I had one do that .. Same circumstances .. let it dry .. etc etc .. the rest have just worn out ..

Sheepskin isn't glued to a pad .. its the sheeps skin. And it will go hard once used and dried. Using them takes the tanning oils out of the skin.

Puck up another and move on.

Bobby C .. the reason we use sheep skin is they are a way more forgiving than M/F etc and release grit a lot better. Cheaper isn't always a good equasion.

Micro fiber mitts work well for me. Throw that ugly sheepskin one away. I wouldn't even use it on my wheels.

I use three for the main body another one for the door sills and bottom of back bumper and another one for the wheels only. They are all different colours, pink for the wheels, orange for the door sills and 3 lime green ones for the body.

When finished I was them inside and out then hang to dry.

I have used sheepskin in the past but found the microfiber ones I am using seem to work very well. The ones I use are actually Simoniz microfiber chenille wash mitts and they are very thick and have worked well for me to this point.

I know you are an expert detailer so I am not going to disagree with your findings the OP should listen to your comments and visit your site to see your excellent detailng work.

As you say get rid of that ratty sheepskin buy some good ones.

I had a sheepskin do that but just picked up another one and it was fine. Seems like some last and others, not so much. I've jumped in between sponges, chenille, sheepskin, and now mf mitts. I really like the Meguiar's MF mitts so far.

I had the same one and same thing happened. Look at the Meguiars wash mitt(white glove)http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-mic...wash-mitt.html.

Its the most durable one I have.
