Auto Unlimited Detail: 2008 Acura TL-S in NBP
I was contacted by this AZine member to polish his 2008 TL-S. He found my old detailing threads on this forum.
When he brought the car over to me, I found very deep scratches on the car's horizontal panels. It also has buffer trails and swirls all over it. The car's paint is pretty thin on some areas, so I have to be very careful not to go too far.
The results are staggering. The paint is not 100% perfect, but 95% of the scratches are removed. No more buffer trails, swirls and holograms to be found on the paint. The owner is happy with the results and so am I.
Products and tools used:
Makita rotary and PC 9424
Meguiar's C-2000 claybar, M105, Last Touch and Hyper Dressing
Prima Swirl, Finish, Amigo, and Epic
Black Wow
Lake Country wool, orange, white, and black pads.
Multiple brushes and MF towels
Before:
I always check the paint's thickness before starting work:
Scratches on the roof:
Scratches on the trunk lid:

Fender after:
Test spot on the hood, before:
50:50 on the roof. The right side has a few passes of rotary and wool with M105 so holograms are still present. They are eliminated in the subsequent steps.
Black Wow in action:
Afters:
See the metallic flakes POP!

I was very satisfied with the turn out and care put into this, the results were unbelievable! I highly recommend Auto Unlimited Detail! It was like falling in love with my TL all over again when I picked it up! I really thought I was going to have to get it repainted!
Thanks again!

CU2MIKE, Richard and I met when he was working on a friend's car years ago when he was still mobile. We've been doing business together since 2008 and he is the supplier for most of my products and tools. I also help him polishing and detailing on as-needed basis.

Same here basically, he got me hooked on prima and blackwow, to now prewow, lol.
I basically see him as my mentor.

The scratches were put on the car by the previous owner, so there isn't much he can do about that. LOL.
I did leave him a sheet of tips and tricks to maintain the paint but I do this to all my customers anyway.

Those pictures just illustrate how a bad a black TL can get and then how beautiful it can look when detailed properly!

I'm sure Chris will take care of the paint very very well. He's pretty anal about his vehicles anyway. You should see the interior. I didn't even have to do anything!

haha Leo couldnt have answered that better... The previous owner did not take care of the paint what so ever, as you can see in the photos... From here on out my TL will never look like that again

I'm a thrill seeker in my
Excellent recovery. It's wonderful thing to see such a beautiful, yet abused black TL come back to its former glory. It's turn around details like these that inspired me to becoming a bonafied detail addict myself, and we can only hope that anyone looking at these discussions takes something away to better their personal maintenance methods.
As always Brilliant work.

That's some very nice work. Mine was in similar shape when I bought it. I've detailed it a few times and got it much better but nothing close to what you've done.
Simply AWESOME!!!

Great work! Love NBP when it is correct.
Just curious...why did you use a rotary AND a DA?
