Acrysol--Anyone familiar with this product?

Just picked up my DGP/camel with navi yesterday. Sweet ride. I pointed out a few marks on the leather seats, interior fabric paneling, and adhesive residue on the rear lights to the salesman. They used a product called acrysol to remove all the marks. He told me they use it all the time and it works great. It is made by Kent Automotive (www.kent-automotive.com). I checked the website and the MSDS listing is all I could find on that product. I am curious if anyone here knows anything about this and what it is safe for?

I don't exactly know much about the product itself, but here is what I was able to find about it elsewhere.

"Acrysol is excellent for removing acrylic-based waxes and sealants. It is popular with paints shops as a prep agent to completely clean the vehicle’s surface. In addition to removing acrylic-based waxes, Acrysol removes silicone, carnauba wax, grease, oil, polishes, adhesive residues, road grime, underseal and tar without residue.

Use Acrysol to when you want to remove old wax and basically start with a "clean slate." It is safe on all paint finishes."

It is available for about $16. Unfortunately no reviews that I saw or additional information. Hope that helps. Link below:

I am totally familiar with Acrysol, and have a can on the shelf in my garage. I am surprised at the price, but I guess when I used to buy it about 15 years ago it was much cheaper and I was paying dealer price for it. A little Acrysol will go a long way.

I was a dealer parts manager for 15 years, and used Kent products extensively. I can vouch for the fact that it is a good and safe product, and will remove almost anything.

I used it when I took the stripes off of my car, and also when I removed the emblems from the trunk. I used Kent molding tape to put them back on when I decided I liked it better with the emblems than without them.

I am not sure that the acrysol shown in the link given above is actually made by Kent Industries. It looks as if it is made by Einszett, not Kent, and I cannot vouch for this product.

Looks like Acrysol is good for removing items on the exterior, but the OP said they used it on his interior as well - is it safe for leather and fabric?

I would not recommend using acrysol on anything but the exterior of the car unless, as stated below, it is tested first. I went out and got my can of acrysol, and it says :Exterior body solvent for cleaning new cars", and "will not harm acrylic finishes when used as directed" on the front of the can. On the side, it says "cleans all body surfaces".

The can I have is about 15 years old, so they may have changed the cautionary notices, and even the formula. If you did want to use it on interior surfaces, you should test it on a hidden area first. I might use it on plastic or leather, but I don't think I would want to use it on fabric.

There are plenty of these solvents around - I use Dupont Prep-Sol. Most are petroleum distillates, occasionally with benzene added. Nothing earth shattering in them. Usual precautions for proper ventilation, avoid open flame, and wear gloves or wash hands soon after use.

Thanks for the replies. The dealer did in fact use it on the leather seats and fabric without any residue upon close inspection. It just seemed to good to be true but maybe it really is that good.
