6MT Owner quick interior cleaning question

How the hell to you clean around the boot that surrounds the shift lever. I've had this problem with all my cars that I have ever had with manual tranny but I never cared about scratching the interior of any of those. This center console seems to scratch easily so I don't want to wedge a vacuum in there. Is there a way to pull the boot out to clean the area and them put it back??

One thing I use, which is actually really good for anywhere in the interior, is a Swiffer cloth. Because its statically charged its picks up all the dust in hard to reach places, like the folds of the shifter boot.

BTW, I'm going to move this to the car wash section.

A soft toothbrush is good for getting down in the cracks.
