3m Smr
3m Smr
With the black car, comes swirl marks, no matter how hard I have tried, I have them, they are not real noticeable but because of how
I am, I want them out of there.
how many people have used hte 3M SMR to get rid of swirl marks, Do you like it? Where can I get it?
I am a Zaino freak like everyone else here, so I'm looking forward to the Spring to redo my signature 1 gazillion coats of zaino. This year, minus the minor swirl marks.

Well unless you are planning to apply SMR with a machine, orbital or rotary, you're probably better off doing nothing at all. Ask Chris (Scooter) about his success, or lack thereof using SMR by hand. It's really best used by machine.
You can get SMR at PepBoys and most other auto parts stores. Look for the one for Dark Colored cars.

YO SCOOTER!
What has been your lack of success with SMR? Anyone else have any other good ideas on how to get out swirl marks
I've tried using Z5, but as we know, it only gets rid of mild swirl marks and it is more temporary.
I've found that using Z2 actually enhances the appearance of the swirl marks and that the Z5 makes my car look a lot better, so I've been sticking with that.

I don't really want to strip down all my layers of Zaino to try the SMR. And plus, if you need an orbital....I don't want to attempt that. I've used Z5 only on 2 coats and it doesn't help the one part that I have swirls (trunk/spoiler). And my car is Anthracite. I'll probably try more Z5 the next round and see if it starts to make the swirls "disappear"....only see them at night or in the daytime at the right angle. When is Zaino's wonder remover coming out?
ugh...i HATE smr
back in the summer 1 day, i spent 7 hours
that's right 7 HOURS smr'ing the car by hand...and do u know how successful i was?????? with my entire arm dangling with exhaustion, u can say the smr owned me
doing it by hand is not the answer...doing it using an orbital is the answer...if yer nervous about doing it yerself, any detail shop will compound it out for u...in fact, they may b able to use a less harsh abrasive to accomplish the same thing, REMOVING, not covering, the swirlies

AHHA! But did it work for you? or did your arm hurt and you STILL had swirl marks? I don't mind taking the time if it is worth it...and I figure when summer comes, I'm going to claybar and restart with Zaino all over again.
However, the 40-50-60-70 coats or however many there are on the car now, sure does look perty
