2009 Acura TL, Detail + Correction

Hey everyone,

Haven't posted in quite a while. This paint correction was done back in the summer time but never got around to doing the write up.

Here we have a fellow acurazine member, jbond2099's 09 WDP TL. This was a strictly exterior detail, focusing on freshening up the paint and applying durable protection. Total time spent was roughly 12 hours as the paint had some problem areas. I also underestimated the real estate on this vehicle as it was my first time working on a 4G. Needless to say, onto the pictures:

On arrival, it was very clean but I still proceeded to do a 2 bucket wash with a mixture of soap meant to strip any remaining wax/sealant.

I sprayed Wolf's Deironizer Gel all over the car but didn't see much of a reaction. Here is a shot of the driver's door.

Vehicle was washed again and dried, then brought in to be decontaminated via nanoskin with a rupes.

A few of the panels were completed with a green B&S pad and Menzerna power finish with a few drops of M101 for that extra cut. The problem areas needed B&S MF pads with M101 and gone over with a green B&S with P203.

Nice write up and great work!

Just a comment
Many complain about how soft Honda paints are but when you have to use MF pads and M101, that doesn't qualify as soft in my opinion.... not rock hard... but definitely not soft.

Looks great! I also wasn't impressed by Wolf's DeIronizer Gel as it didn't have a reaction to the iron like Iron-X. I went over my TL twice with Wolf's and barely saw a reaction. I then tried some Iron-X and it bled like crazy.

Thanks!

Yeah I definitely agree. As a generalization, they may be a bit more on the softer side but there are always the cases of some being much harder. I seem to have encountered a mix of both.

I've had strong reactions with Wolf's in other instances. Wolf's does take a bit longer to show the reaction in comparison to Iron-X. This car simply didn't seem to have too many iron contaminants on it.

Green pads are somewhere between white and black pads as far as cut goes.
For Honda paints in general, for light swirls, orange pad may be too aggressive and black pad would not have enough cut. If I had to pick out of the three you mention, I would go with a white pad. However, if you have some scratches, you would want to go with the orange pads. In addition, it would also depend on the polish you choose.
