2007 Acura TL Type-S Kinetic Blue Pearl Correction
This is my daily driver through all seasons, including the lovely Winters we see here in Ohio. I bought the car in October of 2008 and the paint was in great shape, about 90% defect-free w/ 13k on the odometer. Through proper washing and drying techniques, I was able to maintain the finish and keep it swirl-free. THEN, some careless idiot hit my car at work, doing about $1,300 worth of damage on the driver side quarter panel, right above the tire. During the bodywork phase, my dad decided to dry my dirty car with a chamois. You can guess what happened - it got swirled to hell and back.
I lectured my 48 year old dad on proper drying techniques. He now knows not to use chamois on my car. For Fathers day I put together a nice wash+dry package via detailedimage, but thats another story.
Anyway, no before pics but I can promise those of you who have seen the BMW M3 Interlagos Blue correction a few threads down that my paint looked very similar post-chamois incident. It looked like real ass. So I decided the extended Memorial Day weekend would be a great time to knock this out. It was upper 80s/lower 90s and about 50-60% humidity each day. I also did this in the parking lot at my complex so the sun raped me. The end result was worth it though!
Prep (2 hours)
ONR wash w/ 3 buckets (3 buckets w/ 3 gallons of water and ONR each, one a rinse bucket w/ straight water)
Clay
Correction (4 hours)
Meguiars M105 on Excel Detail white erasure pad via rotary
Polish (1.5 hours)
Meguiars M205 on Excel Detail black finishing pad via rotary
Post-Polish/LSP (3 hours)
ONR wash, followed by Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant (thanks Nick at Autogeek). Let the sealant sit for about 30 minutes, then buffed off with Cobra Deluxe Jr. 600 Microfiber Towel (thanks Nick). I let the sealant cure for 24 hours, per the recommendations and then hit it with Pinnacle Crystal Mist detail spray. This puts a little bit of carnauba for protection, but the gloss was insane. I put another coat of the Wolfgang sealant on tonight and the paint is incredible. Duragloss 321 on the tires.
On to the pics shot with my HTC Thunderbolt. No adjustments to the camera settings - first some reflection shots in the shade.
I managed to get some sun pictures as it was setting:

Awesome job man! I love how the pearl is brought out in those sun shots. I can't wait to work on my own car and bring out the shine. It's definitely not as bad as my brother's interlagos blue m3 I corrected, but it could use a good detailing. It went through an Edmonton winter recently.. enough said.
Those color matched mud guards add a nice touch to the car. I debadged my car the same way as you lol.
Which rotary did you use?

Believe it or not, I used a $35 Chicago Tools rotary that I bought at Harbor Freight a couple years ago. It has 5 speed settings and I was on speed 3 during the correction stage, which is somewhere around 1800 rpm. I bumped it down to speed 2 for the polish, probably about 1200 rpm or so.

Wow this is really amazing. I wish I had the patience to detail my car like this haha, I just purchased a KBP 2007 and its a little dirty...Seeing how good your car looks gives me major inspiration though.
