2005 Accord headlight restore

Its been awhile since I posted but have been busy with moving back to Tampa from WV. Its good to be back In FL and get a garage again!

My brother in-law has a 2005 Accord with 130k miles. The headlights are the original and have been oxidized pretty badly.

Process, wet sanded with 2000 grit then 2500. Had a small wool pad on hand so I decided to try that with M105 and then tangerine/cyan pads with m205. Topped off with 2 coats of BFCS. Car got washed and it got a third coat of BFCS the next day. The headlights took about one hour total with both of us wet sanding.

I forgot to take pics before starting the process. But snapped a few of the final steps.

Dried after sanding

Not bad for my first time cleaning up some headlights.

Feel free to ask questions and enjoy.

You cant add clear coat back, just like wetsanding paint. Once its gone its gone unless the car is resprayed. I added 2 coats of Blackfire Crystal Seal for UV protection.

I think he's asking if you re prayed them? They will oxidize again if not protected.
BF might do the trick though.

Ahh you know I didnt even think of that. The BF will be reapplied every couple of month so lets see how it holds up.

you can actually mix up your own version of a clearcoat using mineral spirits and helmsman spar urethane. works wonderfully.

Not sure how durable making your own mix will be vs something like Spraymax's 2K clear.

your headlights came out great man!

just had the acura dealership restore my headlights and want to protect them now. my experience is that a year after restoring they look like crap again without the clear coat.

do you think i should go witih like a Xpel plastic film? http://www.autosportcatalog.com/inde...d=332&addcar=1

or

have them clearcoated?
